Maybe I need to try curing the palm-combo recipes a little longer as you have noted.

I have noticed that my recipe does better with a longer cure and I use 20% Palm. Never considered that PO was a detriment since I have always used it and have been happy with the quality of my soap. But it does like a minimum eight week cure.

I don't remember ever reading anything about a test of dual lye vs straight NaOH

Just found this video (she mentions SMF!). IMHO the lather in her final lather test is really convincing for a young castile soap.
