So a friend of mine was telling me that her boyfriend has eczema and/or psoriasis and that she wanted to make a Devil's Club salve to help him out.
I have a couple of other friends and coworkers that suffer from the same thing.
So I suggested that I teach her to make a pine tar soap for him to try and I would also make one to gift to my friends.
But I also taught her how I make a Devil's Club salve as well.
They both turned out pretty well I think.
I made two versions of the salve one with devils club and yarrow infused oils and one with plantain, devil's club and yarrow.
My base oil is avacado and the plants are hot or cold Infused in the oils.
I also like to add vitamin E oil for it's antioxidant properties that should help this last a bit longer. And I added a preservative In this case liquid Germall plus.
I'm not sure the preservative is necessary as there is no water element to this one but I can't see how it hurts.
I always use locally sourced beeswax as well.
I don't sell and focus on using plants found naturally here in Alaska.
Anyone else make medicinal salves?
