I love this method of soaping because it gives me all the time in the world, even with "drama queen" f/o's. this is a milky way plastic mold, and in order for it to come out in one piece I have found that using mineral oil to completely coat the mold and FORCING GEL afterwards gives nice results...all oils and lye are at room temp, or colder.

this is just a simple "no-frills" family soap, and it takes 24 oz oils to perfectly fill the mold with no extra batter...50% lard, 25% coconut, 20% olive & 10% castor...btw, this soap floats, too...well, it lurks just below the surface.

the night before I melt all my fats together & do my lye...I use a 5% superfat and a 2:1 water/lye mix. I added 1 Tbsp sugar ppo, and reserved an add'l 1 oz ppo canned coconut milk, added after lye is thoroughly incorporated...for 24 oz oil I added 1/8 cup (2 tbsp.) ground slow cooking oats and 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, along with 1-1/2 oz honey f/o, which accelerates like a teenager in a stolen sports car!

I use a $6 electric hand mixer and whip the fats a bit before I add the lye...whip it on low for about 3-4 minutes, this will be like a loose and pourable cake batter...then I add the coconut milk, cinnamon, oats and lastly the f/o...this method gives you all the time in the world to play with colors...I then pour it into the mold, which is on a cookie sheet, gently lift & drop a few times to get rid of any air pockets, cover with cardboard & towels...this sat for 2 hours before I finally placed it on my heating pad on low for about 4-5 hours before complete gel...I set the kitchen timer for 1 hour and check it periodically.

I let it sit for 48 hours, then gently eased the sides away, making sure the corners were moving freely, then turned it over on a cake rack & gently pressed my hand over the middle & it popped out...viola!

;) thanks for looking!

I see them. They look really nice! Haven't tried whipped soap yet. Always thought you needed one of those insanely expensive Kitchen Aid gadgets. It's on the bucket list...;)

Love the bee designs. I just watched a video on whipped soap today, I must try this sometime.

thank you for the kind words! years ago I was inspired by nizzy's whipped soaps and I kinda cabbaged my recipe together based on his...this is insanely easy, but like I said before, this is still pourable, like cake batter, so you can't pipe it into fancy shapes...here's nizzy's link, he does wonderful things! look at the tutorials and soap pics http://nizzymoulds.com/

I still can't see them, and also can't see your pictures in another thread. Wish I could figure out why! I love whipped soap and if I wasn't so lazy I'd make more of it. Love the way it turns out whiter.
