Can't find the silicone lined soap mold

Hey, a few months ago, I asked if anyone knew of a good place to find wooden soap molds with silicone lining. Someone found a great place, and I suppose I forgot to bookmark it, because I can't find it, and googling just doesn't bring up great results. Does anyone know where I can find such a...

Today's Accidents: oil in the water.

Today, I had measured out the last of my olive oil, and accidentally poured it in my water. Luckily I hadn't put my lye (last of that, too) in it yet. I had to recalculate my recipe. Luckily it's supposed to still be a good bar. Very hard. It hardened very very quickly. Anyone...

Seizing and other Strange reactions to my aniseed EO

A week ago, I tried to make a "Black Licorice" soap. I used black oxide, got to a beautiful light trace, and as soon as I added the aniseed EO (from Essential Depot), it seized. I found a somewhat recent thread here on a similar situation, and realized from the responses that maybe I was soaping...

    Mixing oxides.

Okay, so I just assumed that I could mix my ultramarine pink with my ultramarine blue to get purple. It did come to a nice purple. But, not in my soap. It just turned brown. So, if I want purple soap using oxides, is it safe to assume I'm going to need a "purple" oxide? Or is this not the...

A pool of liquid in the center

Can someone tell me if this is going to be okay? I made this soap yesterday, poured it, it did a partial gel, but aside from that, I checked on it, this morning, and there are a couple pools of liquid in the middle. It doesn't look like gelling to me and doesn't feel like it. Can you help me?

Can you help me check my math?

Hey, I hope you don't mind my posting here. You're welcome to move it, if you do. My reason is I'm about to make some soap, and I'm hoping for a quick answer. Math isn't my strong suit. I am creating a blend of EOs for my next batch of soap. Going off of a suggestion from Lindy in another...

    A giant undertaking!!

Well, I say you definitely learn best by doing. While I always try to be extra prepared, I'd say that extra preparations are key to doing a bunch of things at once. I went bold. Sure, my colors didn't much match the soap, but I was mostly interested in doing something fun. So, I like my...

Yay! Essential Oils for my CP soaps!!

I'm so excited I had to tell you all! I just finally ordered $100 dollars worth of essential oils from Essential Depot. They have a great 50% off sale going on, which ends today!! So, totally go get some now, if you can. My husband is so cool and supportive. Luckily he realizes that it's a...

    Oh no! What is this?!

Okay, are THESE the notorious lye pockets? It's weird, because they have little black centers and are only surface deep. I've never seen anything quite like this. The soap has been curing for 1 1/2 weeks, there is no zap, and I absolutely LOVE the little single-serving sized bar I've been...

    Using micas or cocoa

So, whatever you use for color, if it is something which is mixed with water, do you account for that water by subtracting the amount used in your lye water, or treat it as its own entity?

    My Castile Soap is HARD!!

Can anyone tell me why my 100% olive oil (with an avocado) is VERY hard after only a couple of days? I used EVOO, if that makes a difference. But, I hear so much about how it takes SO long for castile soap to even get remotely hard. Mine unmolded before even 24 hours passed, and it is already...

    What's your favorite Lavender?

Needless to say, there are so many to choose from. Which is your favorite and what is pleasing about it to you? Hungarian: http://www.brambleberry.com/Original-C23.aspx?s=Name%20ASC&ps=12&p=1 40/42: http://www.brambleberry.com/Lavender-4042-Essential-Oil-P3664.aspx Bulgarian...

What do you rest your unmolded soap on

What do you rest your unmolded CP soap on, before you cut it? I unmolded mine, and it's still too soft to cut. Usually I rest it on wax paper, but I ran out!! I have it on a tea towel, for now. But, I'm worried about absorption being an issue. Am I crazy? Should I head out for some wax paper? Or...

    I hate my stick blender. . .

So, I have a very cheap "Big Boss" stick blender. It was a piece of crap to begin with, but now it's to the point where I'm not making another batch until I get a new one. Today, I made a very beautiful, very expensive batch of soap. Of course, it takes a very long time to trace, while my...

Help Finding a Wooden Mold Photo

I have a friend who is a woodworker. I want to ask him to make me a wooden soap mold, complete with the wingnuts. Can someone help me find a good photo to send him, that looks like maybe a 3 lb-ish amount? Thanks!

Weirdness, not cutting soap yet. . .

I made this soap yesterday at about noon. Normally I'd have been unmolding it and cutting it this morning. But, I had it in the freezer all evening, and the fridge all night. I still unmolded it a bit too soon, but definitely can't cut it yet. Smells yummy. . . star anise. : ) Anyway, it...

Preventing Gel - Do you still cover with plastic?

My questions in the title. I just made a batch of Star Anise soap. And I really want to prevent gel. It's in the freezer, but do you normally still keep it wrapped in plastic, even when it's in the freezer? I think plastic can help to avoid ash, but I also worry that the plastic might aid in...

What do you use to cut your CP soaps?

Out of curiosity, what do you all use to cut your soaps with? I know many of you use an actual soap cutter. . . any other things? I use a kitchen scraper. I don't know where I saw this being done, and I thought it seemed like the right tool for the job.

Soap Forming a Shiny Thin Layer

My last batch of soap hardened much faster than I expected. But, it seemed to form a shiny film layer on the top and bottom of my soap. I trimmed it off of each bar, just now, and what's underneath is perfect and soap-like. But, does anyone know about the shiny layer? It just doesn't feel...

    Acidic Ingredients in CP

Do acidic ingredients such as lime, for instance (olive oil infused, peel only) cause any known reactions with CP soap making, enough to create a need to make any particular adjustments to recipes? Lye, water, even oil amounts? Or would you just treat the lime infused olive oil as though it were...
