    It's looking like Fall time

Made my first Pumpkin Spice soap and it smells soooo good! First pic is it just poured. Second one is cooling after gelling. Used canned pumpkin puree in the base with BB Pumpkin Spice and copper mica. Swirled with WSP Perfect Pumpkin (added some buttermilk and used a little brown oxide and...

    Don't want to cut

Almost too nice to cut but a little too big to use in the shower LOL Used for coloring: unrefined seabuckthorn oil (yellow), a mix of activated charcoal & black oxide, and very little honey (off-white/beige).

    Activated charcoal or black oxide

I have black oxide that I haven't used yet but it seems that many here use activated charcoal for a black colorant. Has anyone used both and have a preference? TIA

    Madder Root Infusion Soap

I posted these on the Natural colorants thread but thought I'd post here just in case someone was looking for a way to get a good red soap. This soap is made from a 30% infusion (30% of my oils were infused with madder root for a few weeks). Half of the batter I added a very diluted red...

This is my attempt at rooibos chai tea

This is the color of tea/lye solution..... and this the color the soap ended up. Not the color I was planning but I think it looks yummy and smells even better. The cinnamon and clove on top complements the FO too.

    Mica morph

I wanted a soft peachy color to go with the OO infused paparika blend (red and spanish). The infusion came out perfect. The bolera mica not so much. Since I was only using it in thin swirls on the top I crossed my fingers that it wouldn't morph. It looked perfect when I made it last nite...

If you had to rebatch soap due to pockets of honey....

My first attempt at adding honey to soap and yup, I added a little too much. And I didn't blend it enough after adding it at trace. Was too excited to trying doing some pretty swirls and now I have several small pockets of honey throughout my 2 lbs of beautifully swirled soap  So I've...

How do you do the decorative tops

I've tried to do the textured decorative top twice and both times mine did not come out. I pour at medium trace and have waited a few minutes before trying to decorate the top with a spoon but it barely looks like I did anything and mostly flattens out after a few minutes. Should I wait longer...

When and how to add milk

I would like to try using almond milk and honey in my next batch of soap but after researching I still can't determine how to use it. I don't want to freeze the almond milk (no ice cube trays). I've read that you can use it as a percentage of your water and it's best not to add lye direct to...

Differences between Palm Oil and PKO?

Are palm oil or PKO included in your recipes for different purposes? Are there any noticable differences between the two? Since I'm still a newbie I'm curious as to why soapers would use one or the other - or both. TIA!

    Hello from newbie in Michigan

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I've been lurking here for a little while and have learned a lot from reading all of the posts. I'm a real newbie since I've only made soap a couple of times - 2 hp batches and 1 cp batch - but already I'm hooked! It sure is addicting :-D
