    Goat Milk Soap Skin Benefits?

I've made charcoal soap for the same purpose and when I tested it against plain soap there was no difference for me, personally.

Goat Milk vs. Water Test Results

How cool! I would never have guessed it was comprised of those ingredients. Right now all I have are coconut oil/olive oil/shea butter/sunflower and a scant amount of cocoa butter, but the rest of the oils are readily available to me. :D You are so right about the flexible nature of soaping. I'm...

Goat Milk vs. Water Test Results

Thanks, CaraBou! I'm sorry I missed this update on the test until now. I'm really appreciative of all the hard work you put into this. I think your results were pretty telling! If nobody else runs another test with goat milk soaps I'd like to do one at some point in the distant future. Might be...

Any test results? :) I still would love to find out what the results were!

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

Thanks for posting. You really shed a very clear light on what I was asking and where I came from. I appreciate your answer. Does anyone on here know how to check for/what equipment is needed to check for issues developing with the chem-grade/vintage Pyrex glass? If I am told how to...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

The point of all this wasn't about me taking a no-exceptions stand. The core is about how to mitigate damage and providing people a reasonable option - high-quality chem grade glass is expensive and more difficult to come by; and there isn't enough information available to us as to when it...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

That's a fantastic deal! I need to check out the local restaurant supply store near me but other things keep coming up. :D As the thread progressed, I think it's come out now that it's not so much the people that are "always right" (as frustrating as they can be) it's the people that can...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

Nope, not how I feel at all. I appreciate a wide range of information from different people (including the data you kindly supplied) and I do my own research from there. If you want to critique that or possibly insinuate I'm being contrary you can, but that doesn't make such a statement...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

You understand the word, but you were taking negative connotations not there from it - from other uses you have encountered, most likely - I'm imagining "Dealing with Difficult People" the book as to what you could have envisioned. The "glass advocates" pertained to a very specific USE of glass...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

That's true. I only use plastic labeled PP 5 for mixing up lye solution, and HDPE for storage since it doesn't handle boiling liquids quite as well as PP 5. Either those or stainless steel, and that isn't an expensive solution either if plastic is not wanted. Let me ask another question: What...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

Understood, honeylady! I tend to forget to use emoticons a lot of the time, and people think I'm being harsh when I'm not - I mean to speak in a matter-of-fact, blunt sort of way that is devoid of emotion. I'm only allowed a few emotes per post on this forum, too. Nothing was meant to be...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

My end-goal was to ask people here how they handle this. I am aware of the difference between soda lime glass and borosilicate, but I should have put that in my first post. When I first joined this forum, I was told that ALL glass should not be used, and that while laboratory grade (and old...

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

I'm not sure if that's a good title, but it's the best I can think of at the time. ETA: There's been a small controversy over the title. It's not meant to be read as derogatory, just matter-of-fact and broad-reaching regarding lye solution use. And I'm unable to edit it. We've probably all been...

    Organic EVOO Disappears from Costco!!

Drat! :( So sorry, I know the feeling. I haven't been back to see if they have quit carrying it completely because I'm dreading that but eventually I'll have to. Urgh. I hope we are not forced to start using the non-organic. I want to start selling eventually, and buying copious amounts of...

It did the same for me. I prefer using Argan oil on my face, or Jojoba though - just a preference based on how the oil feels/sits on my skin and under makeup. CO feels a little bit more lingering on me for some reason than the other two. But I didn't have a pizza reaction to it, thankfully. :D

:) While we're on the subject, here's a company that declares coconut oil is NOT comedogenic: https://www.vmvhypoallergenics.com/skintelligencenter/skin-health/39-skin-health/411-is-virgin-coconut-oil-comedogenic But before anyone yells at me that they're biased because they sell things, read...

It's not the slipperiness that bothers me with pure castile, it's the slimey/gooiness. I find bars don't last as long, even with a very long cure of 6+ months. The texture just isn't all that lathery either, and lathering with my hands is an enjoyable experience for me. No iodine in at least...

I may try 30/70 later but last time I did 25 CO and that is just too close to my last recipe. I want to try something way different and see how it effects color/hardness/texture/bubbles when washing. Can always diminish the coconut, but as I said before, another reason for doing this is that I...

    Next Experiment

Seven, I've never heard that it is considered comedogenic before. At least it is not comedogenic so long as it is unrefined, cold-pressed, virgin CO - that is naturally non-comedogenic from all the information I've read. And that type is the only type I use. If I didn't use CO, I would have...
