    Cream question

Cream sounds wonderful! I've only used coconut milk so far and love it but I'm wanting to try yogurt. Do you put the yogurt in at trace as well? And would I deduct some water for the lye mixture and consider the yogurt as part of the water count like the milk or cream? How much yogurt would you...

Canadian Association of Professional Soap & Cosmetic Crafters

This isn't a branch off of the HSCG is it? Looks like it's totally independent of any other groups? Is there a reason to not work together with the HSCG? They already have a lot in progress even in Canada so I'm not sure I'd want to be a member of both groups.

Ok, just came across another question while at the Fantastic conference in Raleigh, NC. Are we allowed to use PO Box's for our product address here in Canada? I can't seem to find the answer on the gov't site. Thanks so much.

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

Thanks again everyone! I have let my soaps cure for 6 weeks before testing, I'm going to go with the zap test, seems to be the real accurate one. Fortunately no zaps for me

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

Boy, just when I thought the PH strips were telling the truth! I've got hot pink all over my soaps but they are not lye heavy, they are fine. Can Phenolphthalein go bad? Maybe I have a bad bottle? My soaps vary from 3 - 5 lbs depending on recipe. I cure them for a minimum 6 weeks. Does the...

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

Well, I'm a little ticked! I went out and bought the PH test strips, guess what? My soaps are fine! So I tried washing with them and they are good. I guess the Phenolphthalein is not an accurate way to test soap after all. Sorry folks, I'm learning everything via the internet and books, up...

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

Thanks everyone, I finally figured out my problem.... oh, so much soap to throw away!!! Bright pink color, the problem is: in the smaller sample size molds and the oval molds my soap is not going through a proper gel stage, thus the lye is not transforming to the non caustic state! Live &...

Ok, seems like I might be finding ground as to what all I need to do to sell soaps.... My understanding is to send in the Cosmetic Notification form filled out properly (to where? I'm not sure yet) and then I can sell them without waiting for a reply regarding each individual recipe! It is my...

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

I have a major problem! I'm new to soaping, only have about 18 batches of soap so far. I'm letting my soaps cure for 6 weeks and using the Phenolphthalein for the lye test. Many of my soaps are not passing the test!! I've used lye calculators and there's plenty enough distilled water.... why is...

Thanks for the information Lindy. Still looking into the legal stuff, but still busy getting my recipes perfected before even considering selling them, so I think I'm still a few months off before I get business going. Do you have any photographs of your white vinyl stickers for the car...

Hi Lindy, I'm new to soaping and am working at getting my recipes perfected before selling. I have my company set up already, business number, etc... but they didn't mention that I had to do this step of registering with Health Canada and submitting my recipes. Are you sure we have to do this...
