    Bay Rum anybody?

@kagey I hope you're able to get the bay rum fragrance/oil, whatever. We used to buy a bay rum soap more than 30 years ago, I forget what company made it. It was a wonderful scent. I'm sure my sons would like it.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Cleaning out my desk and found the business card of a local lady who sells goat milk soap and goats. After we had talked a few minutes, she invited me over to watch her make soap. That was probably TWO years ago! I hope she's still doing this stuff. Glad I found her card since I don't know if I...

Check your department of Treasury for unclaimed money

haha, I know a guy who checked his and found he had inherited a boatload of money! I checked for my sister once and she had some money coming to her from the state too, forget what it was for, but she had a good chuckle over it and got her money.

    Nag Champa

@John Harris have you ever used Mountain Rose Herbs products? I don't know how their EO's perform in soap making and there are different blends you could use to make up your own scent for Nag Champa. I don't know what the original formula was but quite a few different EO's can be used and...

    Smaller goggles, apron fabric, etc

@earlene I didn't answer all of your questions! I'm such a hands-on person, but might do okay reading and watching tutorials enough times. I will check the links you included. There is a soapmaker I met where I work a couple of years ago, she lives within 20 miles or so of me and said she would...

    Smaller goggles, apron fabric, etc

Thank you, everyone! @Zing I did watch a tutorial video from the Brambleberry lady. She sure made it look easy. I agree about being wary with Amazon EO and scents and colorants. Thank you for the links to everything. You guys are excited to pull another rookie into the fold! haha @Zany_in_CO...

    Smaller goggles, apron fabric, etc

I'm anticipating having to find smaller goggles than standard size. Do you own more than one pair of goggles? Where do you buy yours from? Do you get most of your soap making supplies from Amazon, soap supply companies, anywhere you can? Maybe you have found a trusted supplier and go with that...

@Catscankim Click on "Report" as seen at the bottom of your screen. That's what I did just a few minutes ago as well.

    Trying to find a scent

I've wondered why it is not possible to search and find recipes of soaps, copyright or trademark secrets I suppose.

    Just starting! First batch...decent!

Congratulations! I haven't made soap ever, but I did buy two highly recommended (here) soapers books and got two molds, the purple silicone that fits inside a nice wooden box, tongue in groove corners. I don't want to do anything riskier than the soap making itself. Starting out with something...

Is anyone else here for personal use products only?

Me. I think that would be what my first priority is, personal use. Here to learn, observe and take notes.

    acronyms and definitions

I haven't posted here in years, and only have a few posts to my name... Reading another thread, someone used the term GMP, I guess in reference to insurance or safety? What does GMP mean? I have never made soap and haven't been in the right situation for a long time; still haven't observed...
