Having the hardest time with ash

I am not sure what percentage of alcohol... It is just rubbing alcohol. I will look for the strong stuff. I always use distilled water....

Having the hardest time with ash

So I use loaf molds and flat acrylic molds but am having the hardest time with ash with my flat molds. And of course this mold is how I do my pretty swirls. I refrigerate after pouring and everything looks fine. I quit covering because they were getting condensation. The ash seems to develop...

    What in the heck!?!?

If I put it in the freezer in a log mold, will I end up with a partial gel?

    What in the heck!?!?

So this is my miserable attempt at a wine soap... I have no idea what happened but it is not pretty. I soaped at 90 F and added the wine (that go had boiled/reduced down) at trace. Thoughts?

    Cp soap for laundry

I want to make a soap specifically for laundry (and possibly other household uses). Would you do 100% coconut with no super fat? Or still add in a few other oils. I looked at the numbers on soap calc for a 50% coconut, 30% olive, and 20% crisp and the cleansing was above the recommended range. I...

    slow moving recipe

So for soaping at room temp, I just wait until the lye is dissolved in the water (reaches around 150F and use all the oils as is (solids and liquid) Is that correct?

    bath bomb ingredients

Thanks! I do want to use some oils, but no polysorbate so air assume the oils will just sit on top of the water?

    bath bomb ingredients

So I am a complete newbie at bath bombs and just getting started... I have a question about ingredients and why or why not to use them. Polysorbate? Why use it? I am trying to stick to all natural things.... Kaolin clay? I know it makes the bomb hard but when I made a practice bomb (citric...

    technique help

Need help with different techniques... First, I would like to make a soap with chunks and spirals of different colored soaps. Do I have to do anything to the chunks or can I just throw them in? What I'd the best way to make spirals? Shave the bars? Use melt and pour? Also, what is the best...

    another surface problem, ugh

This recipe was high in Shea.... it is just sticky, but the rest of the bar gelled. I will try steam and/or wash cloth

    another surface problem, ugh

Does ash seem a bit sticky and have texture? Because this almost has the consistency of a milkshake... I have seen ash but am unsure this is it... but I am a newbie :-)

    another surface problem, ugh

Just did this batch in a wooden loaf mold. Attempted texture on top (with poppy seeds) and bow the top looks chalky and feels weird... what am I doing wrong?!

    surface bubbles

For the cpop, I am putting it in the oven at 170 for one hr. The slab mold I used for this soap always gets a partial gel so I tried to get a full gel by using the heating pad....

    surface bubbles

I let it flatten then boil for good measure. I have used alcohol before and didn't notice the difference

    surface bubbles

This soap is a beer soap mixed at 90F and wrapped in blankets with a warm heating pad (problems with partial gel). These bubbles appeared after and are hard and not zappy. This also happens with my cpop soaps. I am assuming it is temp related. Is there anyway to avoid this? Especially for my...
