    Curing Shelf

I built a rack that you can hang on the wall....I built it in like 40 minutes and it cost under 20 bucks. The pic is on my facebook page :) I'd recommend it to anyone, it's awesome and you can fit it anywhere because you can build it to your own dimensions. It's just wide enough for a bar of...

FO that smells like fresh grass

My grass and dirt soap is almost 4 weeks and it smells like the day I made it. I have gotten quite a few grass scents and by FAR my favorite is the grass from Peak candle. It's WONDERFUL and a dead ringer without any nauseating scent that some have.

I got bear fat. starting my very first soap!

Even though most people don't want to think about it....there will again come a time when you can't run to the store so knowing how to make lye will be a valuable skill! Props to you and keep me posted! I'd love to learn.

First time soaper, my ambitious idea

Unlike most of the replies you will receive...I say go for it! You know you won't be happy until you do. Even if you try to do something interesting and it doesn't work the way you wanted it to, as long as you soap with the same temp. ingredients and mix, mix, mix until trace....you'll have...

    Favorite colorants

I only have used herbs, clays, and micas...I have one green oxide. You can click my facebook link to see how the colors look :) I just ordered some liquid neon colors so Im really excited to try them! I don't actually want neon but I'm going to try to mix them with my other things and just...

    Soaps staying caustic! Why?

Please do a zap test and tell me what you notice (rub the soap with your finger and then lick your finger....what does it taste like. Or put your tongue directly on the soap). This is the best way and it doesn't lye....lol, sorry...I had to.

What's your favourite oil in soap making? Why?

I use sweet almond oil in all my soap. It's cheap and has great label appeal :) I also love shea butter.

    oil on top of soap

I'm sure you have ruled it out but did you taste it? Are you sure it's not lye heavy?

    retail outlet

That's awesome, Ruthie :) Is it consignment or is she buying it outright? If so, is she big enough to make the minimum order worth your time? That's something I have been wondering about, myself. If I sold wholesale, it would probably at 40 or 50% so the minimum order would have to be pretty...

    Shave Soap Labeling

Keep this simple. Your product is a soap. List your ingredients and don't make any claims about what it does. You can say it's shaving soap, you just can't say it's "moisturizing" shaving soap or anything like that. If people want shaving soap they will know what it is :) Just like facial...

    Our Labels

I like it :) Here's my packaging. The card has the ingredients listed on the flip side. I use kraft tape to wrap the bar...it's super quick and easy because it sticks to itself but not the soap. I love it!

I've used it and nothing's changed so far! It's been a few months.

    Thin Black Lines

I've used coffee, cocoa, mica, charcoal....you can pretty much use whatever you want! My favorite has been coffee or cocoa. They are really easy to do.
