    Goat's milk soap

LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE fresh goat milk in soap...but I've also used powdered when fresh wasn't available. I agree with Ruthie that the fresh feels richer. My personal absolute favorite is 100% olive oil with fresh goat milk. The milk adds a bit of lather to a soap that would normally not have much...

    My first soap :)

That looks better even than most of the cakes I bake! If you superfatted the soap (I'm guessing you did but haven't checked your recipe to be sure), you may not want to use it for laundry. The extra fat has to go somewhere, and that would be into your clothes, whereas the goal of washing is to...

    Determining dilution rates for LS

That book had me pretty befuddled, too. Not being much of a scientist and barely squeaking through math in school, I just weigh out a blob of paste, add that same weight in water, then keep adding more water until it's either dissolved or the kettle is full. And no, I don't keep track since...

If you've never scented pine tar soap with coffee...

I like the scent of pine tar soap! So does dh. But while I was making a new batch this morning, I thought to myself, "Hey, Smee, let's do something different for a change!" Now, I know better than to listen to myself. Really, after all these years, I have certainly learned to ignore myself...

A rant - and nothing about soap

If it were me, I would flat out ignore the message. Surely a 29-year-old can figure out that no response at all means "NO".

    Farm fresh eggs

OMG! I think I found my grandma...okay, maybe my mom if you must be age-picky...still, what an amazing website! And from my short time on there already, what an amazing couple! Thank you for sharing

What to do with a cabbage?

If I may ask yet another one of my dumb questions, because I've never tried it: Is it "legal" to can pints & quarts together? I have two quarts of red cabbage 'kraut and two pints of regular. Would it be okay to water bath can them together, using the quart jar timing?

    Farm fresh eggs

Excuse me for pointing out the obvious, but we will be needing your egg custard with nutmeg recipe here in the food & spirits forum. Please? Pretty Please, even??

What weird things have you put in soap?

One wedding ring. Sad to report, not only did it not add any good qualities to the finished soap, it also bent my stick blender blade. In the final analysis, I don't recommend you try this one

    Having No New Mats

Lucky for us, I'm more of a utilitarian soaper. Once the novelty of "how cool is this???" wore off, I could go back to making soap because we needed more bars. Then this place got me started with liquid soaps...same thing... once the novelty wore off, I'm back to making what I need because I...

The problem with becoming a soap addict.

True that. The more I surf, the more things I find that I can do MYSELF! I'm beginning to fear soaping was only the beginning of a very long road :problem:

    reducing liquid soap cooking time

Yeah, yeah, the glycerine method! It is SO COOL to see it go from slop to soap in just that fast! I will say, however, for my two cents' worth, that I think I like my cooked water-based olive & coconut for hand washing dishes better than the glycerine-based, but I don't have any good reason...

What to do with a cabbage?

Oh, please share! Please share! The recipe, I mean...unless you would send me a jar of pickles, too  p.s. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the kraut keeps up to 6 months in the fridge, but I honestly don't know that for sure.
