    Adding essential oils & cloudiness

Hi Baqn, Thank you for the reply. 1. Yes that's exactly. The same diluted liquid soap divided into jars. One jar was scented the same day while another one after one month with the same EO blend. In general it was cold, however as i remember there were not big differences in temperature between...

    Adding essential oils & cloudiness

Hi there! While i was thinking dilution as the most difficult part of LS, at the end i've concluded that dilution is quite simple in compare with adding fragrance to diluted soap. I make bastile soap (85/15) and i know that i need much water to dilute in order for the paste to stay liquid and...

    Two problems with LS

Thank you @BattleGnome ! As for the essential oil, maybe you are right. Cause i just stirred it with a spoon vigorously. In bigger batches i'll use a stick blender and i suppose i will achieve a better emulsificatition. Is there any chance of having the cloudiness issue of some EOs, as i read...

    Two problems with LS

Hi there, Following my previous post about my first attempt for bastile CP LS, and all your useful advise, everything went quite well. I made 3-4 batches more and i think i'm really comfortable now with the process. It's just that i have two issues need to be solved: 1. While dilution went all...

    Questions about dilution

Thanks again @Zany_in_CO I will start my testings, try also a small mix with KOH & NaOH which is in mind, and other stuff, and hope to have interesting results after all. For any help i may need i'll be back! :)

    Questions about dilution

Also i forgot to ask something about the difference between HP & CP. Suppose we use the same recipe till the dilution. Obviously the HP will end up in a paste with lower water percentage in it than this in CP. That means that we just have to add less water in CP paste during dilution or is...

    Questions about dilution

Thank you @Zany_in_CO ! To be honest i avoid glycerine method, or thickening with salt. I've tried this in my first batch and it actually did a very good job on thickness. I prefer to make things simple as they come by their own, even i have to blend a little bit more or to sacrify a little from...

    Questions about dilution

Thank you @DeeAnna and @Zany_in_CO ;) Very useful information both of you. As for my recipies, i use a 25% lye concentration. Yes of course i make a clarity test and zap test before proceeding. Both previous batches went well on that. Maybe i go down to a 80% OO - 20% CO, but no lower than...

    Questions about dilution

Hi there! Hope all of you are having a great time! :) I'm ready to try my 3rd try for liquid soap (90% OO - 10% CO, 25% lye, 1% superfat). My first attempt was the cooking method, diluted a bit at a time until i ended up with a great clear and honey thick consistency LS. I was thrilled for the...

    Understanding crumbly soap

Inadequate mixing is for sure the reason for the crumbly result. Just wanted to know why this is happening. Why when reaching trace after 24 hours unmolding it's like soft cheese, and when not reaching trace it's hard like rock. And it's zap free, so it's not because of excess lye.

    Understanding crumbly soap

Yes it is 100% olive oil, 2% superfat, 40% lye concentration. I make big batches and put in on a block mold. The batch is ok, as i've made it many many times in the past. The non trace is obviously the only difference and the factor for this crumbly result. I just need to know why non trace...

    Understanding crumbly soap

Hi there, I made a batch yesterday and pour into mold almost without trace at all. However it was well emulsified. My stick blender burned out a few days ago and had to blend with a paint mixer which makes hours for tracing a cold process castille soap. Next day while unmolding, all around the...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Hi again, After many tries, while changing stirrers, ways to pour lye or additives to oils, and ways to pour mixture to mold, i concluded that these white crystal spots appear in the mold withing the 24hour waiting period before unmolding. After searching on web from other soapmakers who have...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Hi Lin :) Well i've made a few batches since then, and managed to reduce them, but they are still there, fewer and smaller, but still there. I payed much attention while pouring lye to oils and other additives, and also lower the temperatures at 40 C degrees. Maybe the problem is happening...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Everything is possible in soapmaking :) But i think it's not that. I've checked it and it seems fine.

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Thank you DeeAnna for the link. I may contact ger for more information. I can see them at the surface without moving or breaking apart. Only after i start stirring i can see them gathering at the circled edge of the mixing pot, and then they disappear or that's what i think. It's difficult to...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

I make almost cold process. I just heat it slightly (40 C) to get things a little bit faster. And i'm using 38% lye concentration. I don't thing it's an overheating issue. As earlene said, they are more obvious in the middle, because heat makes them expand. Thank you very much...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

To be honest i didn't make a batch with the drill again, as it had a damage and then i bought the blender. The blender is 800W and has multiple speeds. It's more powerful than the drill but i don't work it in the maximum. After i saw the bubbles i've tested it at the lowest possible speed...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Yes i've read that too. I try to do this, but because of it's big volume, it's really difficult to avoid bubbles while pouring lye to the oils. However i can't see them after light trace and when pouring to mold. No the juice is not carbonated. I use that kind of blender I bang it as...

Can't get rid off bubbles in soap

Hi, I'm making cold process (40C) soap (90% Olive - 10% Coconut) since the last 5 years. I making large batches (20kgs) and use big cube molds. I was always using a painted drill for stirring and never had any issues with bubbles. Except if i was too careless when pooring in the mold or the...
