In Search of Steam Distilled Citrus EO's

I'm wondering if anyone has a trusted supplier for STEAM DISTILLED citrus (orange, lime. lemon etc) EO's. Most are cold pressed and are phototoxic but you can get steam distilled versions that remove the phototoxicity. I'm in Canada but have no issues importing if the quality is excellent.

    Ads From SoapCalc Printing

Has anyone else noticed that when you print a recipe from SoapCalc it now includes a printed picture of the ad that's in the bottom right of the screen? I just printed a new recipe and now have a girl half dressed with her boobs hanging out for my kids to see while I work. Is there a way...

Has Anyone Had An Open House Before?

Just wondering if anyone here has had an open house to showcase your products? I'm thinking of hosting one every now and then to help bring in sales during the slower months (like January-March can be). No clue how to go about putting one of these on. I've always declined going to open...

Can you superfat AFTER the cook with LS?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with SF LS after the cook. Clarity is not an issue so cloudiness will not matter. Just curious as to whether or not there is a chance of it going rancid if there are unsaponified oils in there? My LS is a bit on the drying side so I'm hoping...

Putting EOs Directly Onto CP Soap

I'm currently having a heck of a time keeping Pink Grapefruit EO from fading quickly when vending at outdoor markets due to the sun etc. Has anyone tried brushing fresh EO onto the top of bars to liven up the scent? I'm not even sure this is doable or even advisable, but I am curious to see...

2 Piece Wooden Soap Dishes Wholesale

I have been searching high and low for wholesale 2 piece wooden soap dishes and have come up empty thus far. These are the dishes that have the tray underneath them with a dowel style dish that sits in the tray. They seem to usually be made from Beech wood. Does anyone know where to find these?

A Very Special Soap in Memory of My Brother

I just had to share this photo of a batch I made yesterday that will be a fundraiser for Kidney Disease. It is made in memory of my brother, John, who passed away September 21, 2012 from Kidney Disease. He loved all things citrus and I used Lemon, Lime and Orange EOs with some natural...

Instead of standing for hours steaming bars...

After trying to steam all of my bars (far too time consuming) to get rid of soda ash, dust and crumbs I discovered a much faster way to do this! I'm sure it's been done before, but I thought I'd share my accidental discovery! After accidentally dunking my soap into the pot of water, I...

There's a bidding war going on for my soaps and I don't know what to do about it!

As ecstatic as I am about 4 local businesses vying for my soaps, I'm a little overwhelmed at the same time. I really wasn't planning on wholesaling quite yet but when opportunity knocks you have to open that door! Here's the scoop - There's a flower/gift shop, a Pharmasave, an organic skin...

Glycerin turning into what looks like instant mashed potatoes

So I thought I'd have some fun and venture into the world of liquid soap and decided the glycerin method would be a great way to start. I followed the method in the Soaping 101 video and can't seem to get my glycerin and KOH to turn clear when it's dissolved. Instead I end up with what looks...

How do you market your 'less than perfect' soaps for sale?

I'm wondering how those of you that sell off your soaps that didn't make the cut for aesthetics etc sell your soaps? Do you have a clever catch phrase? I'm trying to think of a clever way to market them so I can at least recoup my costs with these bars.

    Square Card Reader (Canada)

Help! I just added way too much water to my batch!

OK this is a rookie mistake - can't believe I just did this!! So being completely distracted I ended up adding in an extra pound of water into my 8 pound batch. The recipe calls for 3 pounds of water - NOT 4! I did manage to get it to trace - slowly but surely. Is there damage that's...

    Vendor Tent Recommendations

I'm wondering what everyone uses for tents at shows and markets. What I'm hoping to find is one that is easily put up by one person. The E-Z Up tents look great but I've read they're difficult for one person to put up easily. Do most of you that already own tents have a 10x10 or another size?
