    LLC or Sole Proprietorship

Here in NY it was too expensive to become an LLC. I chose a subchapter scorp. I am incorporated but all gains, losses flow thru my personal tax return, I also file a corp return. So far, I feel I made the right decision since I did not want all of the responsibility to be on me personally. Even...

    Alkanet root

That is a good idea! I have been using a folded paper towel to 'float' on the bottom of the pan. I place my jar on it and then there is no jittering and banging against the pan....

    Natural soap Vs. Chemical soap

Handmade or 'natural' soap using for example olive oil and sod. hydroxide and water contains only those ingredients. The finished product is soap. Synthetic ingredients produce a detergent cleansing bar, not soap. One could posit that it is possible to make a form of lye from wood ashes which...

    Failure after failure

What is the exact qty. of lye you are using? Is it sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide? Have you run the recipe through a soap calculator?

    Suitable stirrer attachment

Definitely not the kitchen aid item- it is designed to whipping egg whites and cream. You probably would be best with a paddle type painter mixer that does not put a lot of air into the soap.

100% coconut olive soap for deep cleansing

I would be concerned about the amount of coconut oil- too much drying will be counterproductive to oily skin. The more the skin is stripped, i.e. dried the more oil/sebum the skin will want to produce in an attempt to re-moisturize the skin.

Which soap cutter do you like best?

Yup, I like that I am able to cut 1", 1.5" and even larger than that with my little wooden cutter.

    QuickBooks

I think that is what I will probably do- they are both too costly to experience buyer's remorse.

Thanks a lot for the information, Lindy.

    Pumice in soap

I use about .15 oz of extra fine pumice and it is a very nice exfoliator.

    QuickBooks

Lindy, is that Sage the same as Peachtree? I know the companies merged. I liked Peachtree for production tracking. Could you share what you don't like about Sage, I am on the fence with Quickbooks and Sage right now.

Why oh why are my soaps doing this???

Call me crazy, but I think they are all very very cool like that.

    ways you advertise/promote your website?

Depending on where you live, you may want to be cautious with this approach- though I think it is a great idea- many states require Commercial license plates and registration for the vehicle if it is being used for business/commercial use. Don't want to see you incur any fees or fines...

    Calculating cost and price

I have liability insurance, $1mil. coverage. I operate as an S-corp. Here in NYC it is very expensive and time consuming to operate as an LLC so, I believe, I picked the next best option for some protection over personal liability as a S-Corp.

    Witch Hazel?

    Got it, thanks!

    Witch Hazel?

You would have to add the liquid witch hazel after the emulsion has cooled completely. Otherwise, the alcohol in the witch hazel will curdle the lotion.
