    Sweating

I know it is not unusual for soap to sweat and I have been soaping for years. This year I have unusual sweating....seems greasy even. I notice it is mainly my soaps made with a mixture of oils including Lard. I have never had my lard soap sweat before. It's mainly my soaps on the soap rack. The...

Packaging bars from BB 18 bar mold

Thanks for the link. I have been buying them from WSP. $6.95 for 200 or 1000 for $29.95. I will have to look into that. Do you know approx. how many you get out of a pack?

Packaging bars from BB 18 bar mold

For those of you who use shrink bands or bags...looking for recommendations on packaging bars from the BB 18 bar mold. My bars are chunky as I fill the liner about 3/4 of the way full. I swirl my top and didn't really want to cover it up with my label. I also have my ingredient label to think...

    Measuring a batch includes?

I agree! Way to strong...especially for patchouli which tends to be overpowering to begin with. I do use their fragrance calculator but mainly for FO's and I usually go with a medium scent. EO's are 1 oz max also. However, I am usually blending them so amounts are lowered. Based on BB...

    Measuring a batch includes?

In general I base it on the weight of the oils. However, on the BB website they list it as the total weight of your recipe (including lye/water). I cut and pasted the section from their FAQ's below for reference: Our handy fragrance calculator is an awesome tool to determine the proper amount...

Discouraging comments from others on your CP soaps?

Please, please don't be discouraged! I felt just like you in the beginning! Yes, you are new and have a lot to learn. We are all learning...every new batch is STILL a learning experience. I felt very insecure when I first starting making CP. If I gave it to someone...would the like it...

    Oil off the shelf

I buy my olive and avocado in the store (Sams for olive and BJ's for avocado). I find the coconut is too expensive to buy off the shelf so I order from a supplier. I agree with Hazel, lard makes a wonderful bar of soap and everyone seems to love it. It's inexpensive and buy it off the shelf...

Purchasing my first slab mold - BB with dividers?

That's a great idea!! With the mold I have now, I just can't keep up. As far as the bowing goes, I thought I read on their website somewhere that you can heat the dividers with water to straighten them out. It said that they can warp. Might want to check that out. I also love the idea of not...

Has my shea butter gone bad?

I refrigerate mine also, to maintain a long life and have never had anything like that. My first batch I bought was in the fridge for about 2 years with no issues. Good to know it's still fine...I would have had doubts also.

Purchasing my first slab mold - BB with dividers?

Yes they have a 36 bar divider that fits in it. I need to chill on the soaping orders for now but geez, do I want that! Hello Christmas bonus where are you lol!! My wish list is growing

Purchasing my first slab mold - BB with dividers?

Although I love that one, it is way out of my budget. I went with the BB 18 bar slab. I can't wait till it arrives and I can try it out! I will probably get the 36 bar divider too because people have been asking for guest size bars.

    Soap Curing Storage

I have mine curing on a baker's bun rack that we bought at a restaurant store. I have a few aluminum trays that are lined with parchment paper and the rest of the shelves are made out of plywood that my husband cut to fit. I like it because it has adjustable shelves. Once they are cured I put...
