Took another stab at an oatmeal-turmeric soap

lightly scented with orange, clove, cedarwood and citronella. This is the one I tried with hemp “milk.”

What soapy thing have you done today?

Y'all may think I'm crazy, but I've wondered if I could pour these without a liner but insert a piece of dental floss before the pour and use it to free the loaf from the sides to unmold. Is that nuts? No technically a "today" thing, but yesterday, I poured my standard-ish recipe (coconut...

    Recent Projects: Crimson Tide

I ordered from them a few months ago, and a bottle of tangerine EO arrived having partially leaked. They issue me a credit for future purchases on half of the original price, which was WAY more than fair. I don't think more than 1/4 oz had leaked out. It just made a mess inside the box.

I find it a bit powdery, but my wife likes it pretty well. Personally, I just prefer essential oils. That way I generally know what I’m getting, and by-and-large they have fewer issues with acceleration and color morph—at least for me. There are a few exceptions that I’ve tried from Crafter’s...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Got myself into the shop and made 3 new molds from PVC lumber. Super easy to keep clean. I also cut acrylic dividers to fit them. I may be able to give you a run for your money on that one... It’s scented with CC Bourbon and Tobacco and actually sells pretty well.

You are always so sweet. Between the local farmer’s market, my mom “hawking my tawdry wares” in Birmingham, three hours away, my wife’s coworkers and mine, I can’t make t fast enough. Interestingly, the most popular things I have are: Shave soaps, shampoo bars and AC/tea tree with kaolin clay.

Hi Marilyn. Selling is going well...not quitting my day job or anything, but I typically sell at the farmers market on Saturdays and am developing regular customers. The forum got really quiet at the first of summer. I was afraid I had offended someone...even more than usual ;), so I just go...

    Aloe Darlin'!

I use aloe juice as the added liquid to my 50/50 LW. Works great. No discoloration and adds lather.

    I’m officially a soap merchant!

$150 in 4 hours, but $150 over 4 hours, but Tropical Storm Barry was threatening to come ashore, so the crowd was small. 90% of people who approached the table bought something I was pleased for my 1st time.

    I’m officially a soap merchant!

Thanks Cee. I took your advice an made it taller - 72”. That was a vast improvement even if it now will not fit in the cab of my truck. Still worth the added 2’ of eye-level prime space. My best sales were at that level.

    I’m officially a soap merchant!

Thanks for your kind comments, and yes, I designed and built the ladder shelf myself. The individual shelves are anchored in the back with pins that hold them in place safely but can be slipped out easily to break down the shelves for transport—Just used-grade lumber from Lowes. I did the...

    Storing Cured Soap

What about after cure? It’s crazy humid where we live, but the house is air-conditioned.

    Storing Cured Soap

Do y'all have any strong feelings or advice on storing soap after cure? Open air but covered? shrink-wrapped? What's the best preservation method to preserve bar integrity and fragrance without promoting DOS?

    I think I’ve over-complicated my soap

I seem to be struggling to get the desired colors in my soap, and I’m beginning to understand why so many professional sappers just make good, simple soap without all the fancy colors, and swirls. My last few master batches of oil have included some really nice ingredients like jojoba and hemp...

Kiwi...as always, that is one beautiful batch of soap. I love the subtle look of natural-TD swirl, and you've added just enough yellow to create interest. You look like an old pro! Great job. I love the little card holders you can stick in the bars. Are those available on Amazon?
