    Thickening Liquid Soap

Thanks. My recipe: 50% Olive, 20% Sunflower, 20% coconut, 10% Castor. Got a little water happy right at the end of diluting when it was a little too thick. I am in the process of making another batch using same recipe. Thought I would make it thicker and then mix with other batch. What do you...

    advice on HP soaping

Not sure you want to go in this direction, but for me, adding animal fats made a world of difference in bar longevity.

    First time lip balm

I've never made lip balm with just beeswax and olive oil, but if I did, I would probably start at at least 33% beeswax. I imagine this recipe would have an olive oil taste and smell to it, as well. Good luck. Report to us how it turns out. :)

Buying from Essential Depot via Amazon has saved me a lot of $ in the past. I've noticed, lately, that the Amazon specials are not as great as they used to be. :(

    Lotion Bars

Use lighter oils. Fractionated Coconut oil is my favorite!! I also like sweet almond. Also, cocoa butter makes a waxier feeling bar, that I don't like. I prefer Mango.

    cost of wax melts

Soy container wax is usually too soft to get out of clamshells or tart molds. You will want to mix with a harder wax. I use a parasoy wax that I blend myself - using soy container wax and paraffin pillar wax. It works great. Soy wax can be a lot more finicky than paraffin when it comes to...

    Lotion Bars

Avocado oil, although great for the skin, makes a greasier bar. You might try using half avo and half lighter oil like FCO, sweet almond, sesame. IPM helps as well.

    Packaging for lotion bars

I love them in tubes. They sometimes get confused for deodorant, but I love having the palms of my hands grease free. I also like the wider roll up tube for better skin coverage if applying to legs and arms, like I do. Here's a pic:

    Scented Wax Warmers

Been making tarts for many years now. I warm my FO before adding to wax. I also hold my max temp for a minute or two once FO is added. Also, I usually add about 10% FO. 6% is rarely strong enough for me. Most blended waxes can hold this much and since you're not wicking, like a candle, it should...

    grainy lip balm

I find that when I use cocoa butter, the quick freeze method does not always work. I have had no problems with shea and mango though. Just in my experience.

I noticed something odd at the local market today

My thoughts are the same as GlenMoody. I can tell within 30 seconds if they made it themselves. Just the other day I walked to a candle booth to see their products. I said "oh, your using palm wax." They seemed a little taken back that I would know that. And then I told them that wicking palm...

    Un-ethical

I'm sorry that happened to you. That really stinks!!! The only good thing about it is - your products must be awesome if people want to copy them! :) I do agree with PuddinandPeanuts. You might want to tell us who the supplier is. It might be a way of getting some justice. I would probably shy...

Forgot to add the palm! But no zap????

What sf % did you use? Maybe it was high enough to make up for missing palm?
