    Shampoo bar & soy wax

It's a contentious subject I know... I'd like to make a soap bar that can be used on hair that fits with my vegan profile but which also suits the increasing number of people I'm meeting who are allergic to coconut. I've lots of oils to hand that I can try - maybe just a long cure as with a 100%...

    Shampoo bar & soy wax

I’ll give rice bran oil a try, I’m really not tied to any oils.. other than they have to be vegan and no coconut oil ... a challenge in itself.... thank you

    Shampoo bar & soy wax

Babassu is out but I can use Shea. So thinking about Shea, avocado or olive and castor. Just need something to help with the hardness of the bar

    Shampoo bar & soy wax

Just wondering if anyone has tried soy wax in a shampoo bar? Nut allergies rule out coconut and I never use palm or animal based oils. Wondering how to improve the hardness of the bar... I've not even thought of other benefits or disadvantages. Anyone?

    Essential oils and 26 allergens

I'm hoping the answer to this question is as simple as a yes or no. Would different batches of the same essential oil contain the same allergens? Just wondering if changing supplier would effect any allergens I’ve listed. TIA

labels - BBE date or PAO

EU Regulations require that soap has either a BBE date or a PAO A PAO can only be used if products have a shelf life over 30 months. My dilemma - Soap improves with age BUT the natural colours and essential oils lose their potency. Which should I use? What do other European soap makers use...

    EOs and anti doping

Thank you all. I’m feeling quite educated by the replies I’ve had. I’ll do more research into safrole etc just to be on the safe side.

    EOs and anti doping

Hopefully nothing. I was thinking something like pine, lavender, lemongrass but not necessarily together. I use eos in my soap but that’s a rinse off product. Bath bombs and soaks are a new area for me and wondered if I needed to exercise more caution.

    EOs and anti doping

Ok, please don’t shoot me down here if this seems a stupid question. Essential oils are used for the benefits they provide as well as fragrance. If a bath soak or bath bomb uses essential oils is it at all possible something is absorbed that may appear on anti doping tests? Or is the amount so...

Does spent grain have an inci? Also do you label your soaps to say they contain wheat and gluten? TIA

    Bergamot Essential Oil

I know that citrus oils don't hold well in cp soap. Has anyone any experience of using bergamot successfully? Appreciate some advice before I try....

    Moisturiser recipe needed

So far I've made my own cp soap but am now considering making a cream. After several weeks of skin problems which the doctor couldn't diagnose, I have come to the conclusion that my skin has gone from oily to dry because of my age. I don't like heavy creams but need something to help my skin...

Soap Disasater - not sure what to do...

I've rebatched so hopefully it will turn out better this time. I had a good look at the botched batches and I'd be surprised if my temperatures were cool. The Lye solution went straight in, so the oils should have got the full heat from that. Yet, it seems the only explanation. I might try this...

Soap Disasater - not sure what to do...

I tried cutting the soap as soon as it came out of the oven, about 8 hours later, I tried a day later and now 3 days later there is no improvement. The soap is not hard or brittle at all. It's soft and aerated as the picture shows.

Soap Disasater - not sure what to do...

I preheated the oven and left it on for the hour. No I've not worked with Pumice before and I sourced from the same place I get all my usual soap supplies. Can I rebatch now or should I wait for it to cure? Also, in rebatching what would I do to correct my problem?

    Spent Grain, Lindy?

Finally! some soap made with beer and spent grain. I have to admit to being distracted by the bread making and the fact it's been such a hit with my children.:-P The beer was reduced to about half and then I used it in a 50:50 ratio with water and added to the lye. It seems to have gelled this...
