    Keeping FO/EO in Metal?

Has anyone noticed their fragrances/EO's morph if kept in the metal containers you get them in? I have noticed a few that seem to have changed a bit and now I'm wondering if I should have put them in glass as soon as I received them. One was a fragrance from Lebermuth and one was an EO from...

What is your favorite Eucalyptus EO?

I have been using Eucalyptus Lemon from China purchased from New Directions. Carolyn Z. shared a small piece of soap with me made with this type of oil and I have been in love ever since. It sticks well and I find it refreshing. Although I think it smells great, I have read many think it...

    Rant about lying soapers

I'm so irritated with these soapers that blatantly lie to customers to get them to buy their products. Thursday evening my husband and went into a very cute gardening new age store near where we live. I have always loved the store and they give classes and sell many pretty things…including...

    Lebermuth's Sample Policy

It seems like not many people order from Lebermuth so I wanted to share their sample policy with anyone who may be interested in getting samples from them. I use a few of their fragrances and really like them. I requested one today and was sent the info below: Re: Lebermuth Sample...

    Anyone tried Lebermuth Orange10X Decolorized?

I wanted to try it since everyone seems to like Brambleberry's Orange 10X so much, which I have never tried. I like the idea that Leb's is decolorized, but was not sure that by removing the color, the sticking power would be altered. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

    Face Shield?

I got some soap batter on my lip tonight and then licked it! Now my lip is burned and I really need a face shield. I saw one about a month ago online that fits onto the sides of prescription glasses, but I can't find it anywhere now. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thank you!!

Need help w/ Tetrasodium EDTA please

I have tried using EDTA several times and now I remember why I gave up. If someone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong, it would be greatly appreciated. I have read all the threads on using this product and no one mentioned the issue I have. I will preface this with the fact that...

    Let's talk TD again...

This week I was using a soap at my kitchen sink that's been curing at least 8 weeks (40% lard, 22% coconut oil, 15% olive, 10% sunflower, 6% castor & the rest RBO) and it's very soft and mushy after a few uses. I have been troubled by this, but then I read today Newbie saying too much TD will...

    Paris Fragrances

Has anyone bought from this company before? I received an email this morning from the Handcrafted Soap & Cosmetic Guild with vendor specials and Paris Fragrances was mentioned. I can get a free FO if I sign up on their website, but they have no testing info on their site and they are not...

    Fragrance Usage

I was wondering if anyone does this: Your fragrance usage in a recipe is 5%, but the fragrance discolors. So in half of the recipe you use 7% FO for one color and in the other half you use 3% FO. It's still the same 5%, but distributed unevenly throughout the soap. I think I saw this...

    Fragrance Usage VS Batch Size

I read on Soapalooza's site the following under Fragrance Usage Guidelines: Cold Process Soap: .5 oz to .8 oz per lb of base oils (3 - 5%). Smaller batches will use the upper usage range, as the small batch can not compensate as well against the lye. Larger batches often can use the lower...

    Honey Spots

I never soap with honey, but I thought I would make a loaf for my parents. I have read on this forum about the spots and how to prevent them...after I made the stupid soap. I did read to put the warm honey in at light trace and this is exactly what I did. I can't find anything that says how...

    Least discoloring dairy/milk?

I love milks and other dairy products in my soap, but was curious what others found to be the least discoloring. I usually add them to my oils and soap cool. This helps immensely, but they always cause some kind of discoloration. I'm going to test some tomorrow. I have: buttermilk...

    Recommendations for non-bleeding hot pink?

I've looked far and wide and they all either bleed or fade. I have some nice micas, but they are not hot pink. I did like a neon powder from WSP, but they have discontinued it and my tests with the new pinks are not satisfactory. I'm using these in CP soap. Thanks!

Can we please talk about super fat?

Ok, so I know a little about super fatting and I wanted to see if what I understood was correct and also if you more experienced soapers could give their thoughts and experiences. Please tell me if I am wrong on my assertions about the affects of super fatting your CP soap. I have gone...

    Looking for earthy lavender FO

I thought I had found the perfect lavender FO from Daystar, but it's not listed on her site any longer. I liked mixing it with lavender EO. It smelled exactly like the EO. I have tried Tassie Lavender from two suppliers and the lavender from WSP, but I want a more earthy herbaly lavender...

Jojoba beads - Anyone use them?

I used 1/4 tsp PPO in a recent soap. The soap looks great, but they are horribly scratchy. I was thinking I should use more and it might be better since they would be closer together. Not sure if that sounds logical or not. The package say 1-2 tablespoons per pound, so someone must use...
