    Secret to selling soap successfully?

I used to think that Melt and Pour soap also wasn't a "real" form of soapmaking, but then I tried it. I love it and I do make and sell it, along with my cold process soaps. If you're not comfortable working with chemicals then don't! But I'd urge you to look a bit more into it, as it opens...

Hmm, interesting thought :) Never tried it but I would be curious to see how it would come out.

    Vanilla soap

You can certainly get a "non-browning" vanilla fragrance oil. I don't know off the top of my head who has them, but I know they aren't hard to find. I'm pretty sure I got mine from FNWL. I've put vanilla beans in soap before. What I do, is cut open the pods and then scrape out all the paste...

    Cracking soap

The only time I have had soap crack was when I didn't wrap it up nice and snug when it was sitting overnight? Haha, I can't think of the word for it, lol, but after it hits trace, you put it in the mold, and then you wrap the mold in towels etc overnight? I didn't do that when I first started my...

    Paraben free

Yes. I, too, use Optiphen. It's SOO important to me to not use paraben in my products.

    Shea Butter

Okay, I'm sure this has been brought up before. There is refined and unrefined shea butter, yes? Which one smells? I make my scrubs with shea butter, and the scent is so overpowering :( Is there a way around this? Thanks :) xx.

    Best way to ship soap?

Yes, I always save just about all of my packaging materials from suppliers! I always wrap my soaps in bubble wrap, and package them in bubble wrapped envelopes with peanuts or boxes with peanuts :)

    Optiphen for sugar scrubs?

Same here. I've been using it in my body scrubs, as well as lotions.

WHAT is this stuff on my soap :?

I've been working with M&P soap for a little while, and I've just recently noticed, after I cut the bars, if they sit for a while, they will develop a whole bunch of these tiny little beads of "gel" or "oil" or something. They wipe off easily, but...what is it? And, is it okay, and is there a...

    M & P and Lotion

It was warm at first because when I melted the MP and added it to the lotion the MP was still warm :) It turned out very soft, I think I need to add more MP, perhaps at 15% rather than 25%? I used the stuff in the shower, and it was actually more lathery? :o The lotion has really rich...

    M & P and Lotion

In an attempt to make whipped soap, I combined 12 ounces of m&p soap with 4 ounces of whipped body lotion (my own recipe). I let it cool/harden and then whipped it through the mixer, added fragrance/color and it is now sitting in mold. Has anyone tried this? Mixing lotion and MP soap base...
