    Impatient to test my soap!

I have so far made 6loaves of soap, the recipe i used said to leave to cure for 6 weeks. Is it possible to use it before then? What is the reason for waiting so long other than for the soap to harden? Really just want to see how it feels! Its been 3 - 4 weeks since i made the soaps. Thank you!

    which olive oil?

Hello again from a newbie! I have read in a couple of my soap books that pomace oo is ok to make soap with and i know at least one book says its better to use pomace than the better grades. However i have noticed on this forum people using evoo. Can you tell me what you use and why? Pro's and...

    does everyone stick blend?

Thanks all. I have so many things i want to try i don't know where to start !! Less water in the recipe, adding a bit of castor oil, some cocoa (or some other) butter, stick blending. A different recipe altogether maybe??!" i think i will start by changing the recipe then try the stick blender......

    Castor Oil ??

This is really interesting, i am just thinking about how to improve my basic Oo, co and so recipe. I think a reduction in so and the addition of Castor and a butter would help. Would 5% castor be enough to notice the difference?

    does everyone stick blend?

Its pretty unanimous then! So i have a stick blender, but having run the recipe i have been using through soap calc i realise there is way too much water in it (i think this was a safety thing as i saw it on a tv program) so i'm wondering whether to use it again with less water AND a stick...

Thanks everyone for your responses. I should have said - i just don't fancy lard or tallow, makes me feel a bit odd! I have been using coconut oil so will carry on with that plus a butter of some sort. Thanks again!

    palm oil substitute?

Hello all, i'm new to soap making and looking around for recipes that interest me. An awful lot of them have palm oil in which regardless of the sustainability issue, i just don't have easy access to. Is there something i can swap it for? Or does the whole recipe need to be revamped? Thanks.

    moulds

Hi Rob, That's REALLY helpful thanks! I think my next experiment will be with the pipe mould! Seems like it will be easier than getting the loaf mounds i want, just a quick trip to the diy shop. I know how much liquid quantity my soap recipe makes so can easily work it out from there. Thanks...

What do you think about Melt and Pour

I am a complete newbie and went straight to CP soap - the main reason was that I saw a tv program where it was featured and didn't look too scary! After reseaching a bit, I'm ashamed to say I didn't bother with M & P as I couldn;t see the point! Surely anyone could do it? I really didn;t...
