    Trace & Temperatures

Welcome to the forum Firefly24 I agree with Artemis , without your recipe we would only scratch the surface of what the problem with fast trace may be, over stick blending and misbehaving fragrance oil & some essential oils tend to be top of the list of common problems. Other than that you have...

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

did you cut your soap as yet ? i was hoping to see what you meant by "crumbly" . the white on top of the soap could be soda ash , just a cosmetic problem that can be fixed by steaming or cut off . if the soap came out of the mold without leakage or falling apart then the "softness is due to your...

How can I tell if a batch wasn't emulsified?

One quick and sure sign is separation of oil and water . it may show up as pools of one or the other or both . it would have been nice to see a picture and the recipe . it seems like it was going thru gel phase and stopped leaving opaque color on the edges . it being soft could be due to the...

    Bird nest in CP soap

The question that is rolling around in my head is ..."What does the bird nest bring to the soap?" ,does it survive the lye or is it just label appeal ? I did a quick search and saw etsy has bird nest soap , also saw that there is bird nest lotion which seems to be more popular than the soap...

So what happens if you just introduce your dry lye directly to the oils, nice and slowly?

Where have you been reading that information at Saltynuts ??? you can use other liquids but a liquid is used for emulsion , creating the saponification process of turning a fat into a salt. which creates a soap.

    Understanding Super Fat

Jorah basically said it , and with that one fact you have to up your superfat to compensate / balance it out . Also you have to be aware of your skin type , some can take 30+% coconut oil in their recipe with say 5% SF or less with no problem [of dryness to the skin] while others will have to...
