    My business role model

Marie Forleo. I watch her youtube videos over and over. So much good advice for starting up/running a small business. She's funny, so the videos are easy to watch and she's definitely who i turn to when i need some motivation. Here is the link to her youtube page...

How would you handle this? (Family member)

I keep a stash of "mess up" bars on hand (under weight bars, less than pretty bars - still good soap, but not quite sellable looking) to give to friends and family who ask for soap. If they want something specific or something "prettier", i'm upfront with my pricing. I do offer friend/family...

    Paying Yourself

I wish i was to a point where i could start paying myself, but so far it's all going back in the biz. I guess maybe if i quit buying so many so supplies (that aren't completely necessary) maybe i'd get a head a little faster, but i am addicted.

Is it better to wrap soaps in paper or plastic?

For those that package their soap in boxes, where do you get them from? i've seen them around on a few sites, but some of them seem so expensive.

Chicken alfredo all the way. Or pretty much anything covered in cheese and full of carbs makes me excited.

    Virgin Coconut Oil

I use coconut oil all over my body (including my face) instead of body lotion and have never broken out from it. It's actually really good for your skin. I've heard people claim it actually cleared up their acne. Here is some more info about coconut oil and some of the amazing things it can be...

How many soaps you produce daily?

I make soap whenever i have time, so that rarely is daily or even weekly. I get in big "soap moods" where I'll do nothing but make soap all weekend, then get to busy and not do anything for a month. I guess maybe i should keep better track and get myself in to more of a routine, but i never want...

Question for those who sell online- Marketing Related.

I use both etsy as well as my own site. On my own site, i haven't done a ton of marketing and seo yet and many of the people who purchase from it are people I've sold soaps to previously from farmers markets that like the convenience of being able to order online.

    I love Rachel Ray

My mom always grows an over-abundance of zucchini in her garden every year and i always end up with way more than i never know what to do with. This recipe will be a great way to get some delicious use out of it. I'm saving this one for sure!

What inspired you to start soap making?

After my daughter was born i quit my job and did the stay-at-home-mom thing. I loved it, but got so bored after a while. I started picking up random hobbies and decided I needed to find one that i not only loved, but could also use to bring in some extra income. I tried a few various other ideas...

    What Fragrance with Cocoa Butter?

I use cocoa butter in a mint chocolate soap i make. It smells divine and reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

How have your online sales been so far?

They are decent. I get a few a week, but haven't been doing too much to promote online. Most Of my sales are from shows and from local businesses i have set up accounts with. When i have some more free time i want to invest more energy into online sales and etsy, but for now I'm at least keeping...

    square foot gardening?

I started container gardening this year. I'd never really gardened before and have killed pretty much every houseplant that wasn't a cactus. (Let's be honest, I've killed those too.) I got off to a rough start because I got overly excited and bought every type of plant/herb/flower i could get my...

I have a lab mix that pretty much fits that same description. She's 7 now, but as hyper and active as any puppy I've ever seen.

Hello! I'm new here as well.

    i think i need another 100 years..

I feel the same way. I keep starting new projects and picking up new hobbies. I also have a tendency to leave many projects half done in my excitement for starting new projects, so I also wish i had the patience to stick with one thing until it's finished before moving on to something new. I'm a...

    Cold/flu remedies

It's gross, but it works! I take a small glass of hot water, add 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 teaspoon of organic honey, a sprinkle of cayenne pepper and a bit of fresh lemon juice. Stir until the honey dissolves and drink it up. I do this a couple times a day at the first signs of...
