    Melting Vaseline

My microwave doesn't mind melting soap or beeswax mixtures but straight beeswax or straight Vaseline or the combo it balks. The lip balm came out fine in the end thankfully. I will make a note on the recipe page to add a little skin safe or food oil to make it work....

    Melting Vaseline

I was making some lip balm that requires the use of Vaseline and beeswax. After figuring out neither was melting I added a little vegetable oil and they melted fine. Is there some trick to melting Vaseline I don't know about?

You get what you pay for!

I've been going to Whole Foods for the cheapest EO's I can get and have done pretty well on Ebay long as I use a top rated seller not a fly by night company...

My first pour, my first failure.

I've had more than one fail though I usually keep the fails in the house lol. Let me see I've added too much dye to the point it stained washcloths, had layered soaps fall apart :-)and my latest instead of mixing powdered goats milk with glycerin or some liquid I just added it and it is in...

    melt and pour baby soaps

What I did was to melt some chamomile base I had and I added some powdered goats milk. Naturally I forgot to mix the powder with glycerin so it clumped  but I guarantee they're likely gentle! I added no colors no EO no FO...

    melt and pour baby soaps

I tried searching for these topics so if I am reposting I apologize in advance. I've got a lot of melt and pour bases and would welcome suggestions on baby soaps. I know not to use the honey bases and finally got it through my thick skull not to color them. I read on this forum that essential...

    Layering issue

I took a stab at making layered soaps in my silicone loaf pan last night. I poured the first layer and let it set for about 45 minutes. I colored the second layer and poured it on top of the first and let them set overnight. This morning I went to cut them and the layers fell apart!! :shock...

    Lip Balm Newbie Question

Are EOs any better? I've made a few lip balms using lemon EO but am ordering the tube rack and tubes from Elements instead of the 2 ounce tins I did at Christmas.

    REALLY Cute Silicone Molds

I've been hitting the 3 big craft stores(AC Moore,Michaels and Joanns)for silicone molds. I've scored a pumpkin mold, several 2 bite sizes shaped like itty bitty brownies and stars, bigger stars too from the baking and candy sections. I use the smaller ones for samples.

    I stitch!

Here is my poppy in progress... I got the design from a British cross stitch mag I upsized it because I can't stand evenweave and switched out a few DMC for their Satin equivalents to give it a bit of shine...

    Neapolitan soap

And here they are..I apologize if the picture looks bad I am not the world's best photographer.... My impressions of them is the chocolate FO and vanilla FO took perfectly. The strawberry FO was a bit chemical at first then settled in fine after a few days... The gel coloring took...

    Neapolitan soap

I did the chocolate part last night. My kitchen still smells of chocolate FO lol. Tonight I might attempt the strawberry one. I also buy from WSP though I also split between Sweetcakes and BB. I prefer the clear vanilla from Sweetcakes because I don't have to add something to keep it clear. I...

Where do you buy your soap dye?

I was also buying mine from Michaels I stopped because I had trouble telling colors one from the next when the labels would fall off. When they began selling liquid colors clearly labeled I purchased a few. Then I started buying gel colors from Sweetcakes better labeled thankfully!! :D . And...

    Neapolitan soap

I don't think there is a Neapolitan FO I'd be leery of it if it was lol. Since I've got so many heart shapes I might use those I will need to cast 3 different batches altogether...
