    I have bear tallow too I am rendering down some bear fat.. I started it yesterday .. it's a bunch.. and let it simmer all night on the stove.. it still isn't finished but it doesn't have a bad smell at all like someone mentions that theirs did.. it smells good..makes me hungry every time I go...

    Thank You! The Fragrance brand is from Nature's Garden. It does smell good. Yes, it traced very quickly. Would the quicker trace have anything to do with the zap not leaving after baking it?

    Making your own Rose infused Oil when to add to soap?

    I have a question... I made my own infused oil by picking fresh rose petals and covering them with vegetable oil and would like to know when making my soap do I count this as rose oil when calculating my recipe or do I just add it at trace like an essential oil?

    Well, that is just cool as can be.... I baked it and didn't even realize it...lol... I washed my hands with it and it's works great..has a good lather too. It was just made with crisco, lye and water and I added some lemon fragrance oil at trace... I thought I would just shred it up for laundry...

    I am new to soap making and would like to know if I could use a different liquid instead of water in a recipe for example...say it calls for 4 cups water could I use 4 cups of water that I had steeped violets, mint, oregano etc in it's place?
