    Ingredient verification

I bought a Rose wax and some other ingredients from a big (seems very big because of variety of ingredients) company in India, received the products and doubt the authenticity of their products. They do have a label of USFDA registered Co, but I don't know how to verify it. Is there anyway...

Fresh additives soap - need help

why rebatching is better for this type of soap? Do I need to reconstitute fruit puree to water in 1:1 ratio or more for puree? Thank you!

Fresh additives soap - need help

Thank you Heather for sharing your thoughts! Quite helpful. I decided to put Coconut cream in oils (since it's high in fat) and strawberry puree at trace. I am also thinking putting some natural strawberry flavor oil (I have it for lip balms). I don't have any fragrances and essential oils...

Fresh additives soap - need help

You are funny! :) Oils 670 gr Lye 90.44 gr Water 234 gr 35 % water discount and 5% SF First I planned to mix lye with about 120 gr of water and add 114 gr of strawberry and coconut cream. Now I think maybe I should mix lye with almost full percent of water - 180 gr and add about 180 gr of...

Fresh additives soap - need help

Thank you, Hazel, for your thoughts and advice! Now I'm thinking about changes. If the recipe needs 10 oz water and I mix the lye with those 10 oz of water and add the starwberry and coconut cream at the trace at the same weigh - 10 oz for both, do you think it will be too much? I will remind...

Fresh additives soap - need help

That's what I'm afraid of - it will burn and harden the lye and coconut cream. I can't strain the str. puree (I wish I could) - I mixed the strawberries in a blender and it's like baby food now - very smooth, oh, smoothie like :)

Fresh additives soap - need help

The coconut cream semi liquid, about the consistency of regular heavy cream. I forgot to say that it will be whipped soap, so I don't afraid all the raw soap will thicken eventually.

Fresh additives soap - need help

I want to make the CP soap with fresh strawberry puree and coconut cream (ingredients from the label: water, coconut flesh and guar gum). I never did a soap with fresh additives and have no idea when and how I should add them. If the recipe needs 10 oz of water, should I replace partially (I...

Weird feeling on a skin - HELP!

Genny, the soap is 5 weeks old. Do you think it can be rebatched? How much shea (per 100 oz of oils) do you think can help with the problem? Thank you!

Weird feeling on a skin - HELP!

Kansas Farm Girl, maybe you are right. So, question to experienced profi - is there any way I can fix this same batch and make it less cleansing without that weird feeling? I thought of grating it (but it's a big batch), lay it in even bigger mold and pour the new soap over the grated one with...

Weird feeling on a skin - HELP!

I just tried my recent batch of CP soap and puzzled with the feeling it gives me right after I wash the soap off. It's weird and feels like squeaky clean, kinda sticky on skin to skin contact, rubbery and something close to compare like the fingers on a balloon feeling... rrrr.:???: I never had...

    Funny smell - why?

That was my first thought as well, but since I'm first time dealing with flavors in the soap, I don't know for sure. I am going to experiment with very small batch and will do the same but will skip the one with alcohol this time. The scent is not faded, it's still strong but different (has...

    Funny smell - why?

I try to use only naturals, not synthetics like FO, therefore I used the natural flavors.

    Funny smell - why?

I made Chocolate Orange CP soap and first it smelled exactly how the name says - yummy, like a dessert. But after about a week the smell went awry and not pleasant at all, I would say even weird, I can't describe it - there is no chocolate and orange notes... I'm puzzled what had happened with...

    Fresh additives in the CP

do you have to heat the beer before mixing with lye, so the alcohol will evaporate? I remember reading something about this before.

    Fresh additives in the CP

Yeah, Genny, I totally agree with you, but if the customer will ask you the same question he/she will be disappointed to hear answer "they sound exotic" :-|. By buying Strawberry Banana soap he/she assume how good such soap must be, moreover if the seller copy/paste the praises about how high in...

    Fresh additives in the CP

Good to know, Vanessa! Does it refer to beers only or wines and champagne are good as well? I never tried with them and just gathering the info before my first trial :-?. You mentioned the beer brand but how about the wine and champagne - are those bubbles forming too? Are there any brand/type...
