    New Essential Depot Molds

Just used my new ED molds and I am in looove! Didn't have to worry about lining and the soaps came out with perfect lines. I can't wait to cut them! The first one is half green clay/cucumber and half GM, scented with rosemary, mint and lavender. The second is a GM, scented with clean cotton fo...

    Shampoo Bar - Thanks Lindy!!

I made a CP batch of this two weeks ago, but ended up having to rebatch in the crockpot a few days later. I unmolded and cut the bars to cure, but they are still not hard. A bit spongy. Has this happened to anyone else?

    CP Kosher Salt rebatch question

If I was worried about possibe lye clumps in a salt bar (50% salt by weight), would adding the crumbles at trace rectify this?

    looking for rebatch directions

Ewenique, the only bowl I had that could fit 5lbs of soap was too big for my microwave, lol. So the crockpot it was :D This was my 1st time rebatching, but I enjoyed it so much I might try a HP soap next!

    looking for rebatch directions

I just finished rebatching it in the crockpot. It didn't come out too dark and I didn't have to add any liquid becuase it was pretty soft since I made it on Sunday. Thanks!

Cleaning up is a pain in my butt :( Help!

I use cling wrap to cover my kitchen counter. Then when I'm done, I put all the dirty things (except the lye pitcher) into the stainless steel mixing bowl, then pour boiling water over it. Then I just let it sit until a couple of minutes, and it scrubs off really easily.

Why was I so afraid of rebatching??

Was worried about my lye clumping up on three batches I made a couple of days ago. Couldn't decide which rebatching method to try for the first time, so I tried a different one for each- crockpot, oven and double boiler. It was soooo much easier than I thought! Maybe because the soap was still...

    looking for rebatch directions

If the soap is only a few days old, could I just chop it up and put it in a crockpot on low without adding any liquid? Also, if I try to rebatch GM soap, will it scorch?

    Lye Clumps :(

I stirred it pretty well, until the ice cubes were completely dissolved and then some. The lye water didn't really heat up though, because all of the liquid was frozen.

    Lye Clumps :(

I made a couple of batches of goats milk soap this weekend, with the milk frozen into ice cubes. I noticed when I was mixing the lye with the gm cubes, there was a large clump at the bottom. So I fished it out with my spoon before I combined with the oils. Alas, after cutting I noticed two bars...

    Ungelled Salt Bar?

I used soapcalc. I thought it was supposed to get crumbly if u waited more than 2hrs to cut, so it threw me for a loop..

    Ungelled Salt Bar?

Just tried a salt bar for the first time, 100% CO with 20%SF. My oils and lye water were room temp, so the small loeaves didn't didn't gel. I cut them after 2.5 hours and they're still soft. The ones in the smaller silicone molds are to soft to unmold. Should I be worried?

What oil is best for lather?

My go-to recipe that is lathers really well has coconut, olive, tallow, 7% cocoa butter and 8% castor. I also use beef & coffee, or goats milk for my liquid. It has given me the most bubbles out of all my batches. Good luck!

    100% Lard Soap?

Do you only use it for laundry? Is it your favourite because of how it feels on your skin, or just on ur clothes lol?

    100% Lard Soap?

I can't see myself having the patience to wait 6 months to use a castille bar :)

    100% Lard Soap?

Thanks! Do anybody know any other oils that would be good for a gentle face bar? I'm toying between leaving it 100% lard, or adding some castor, avocado and cocoa butter to it..

    100% Lard Soap?

I'd like to try a goat's milk soap for my face with only using lard, and maybe tea tree oil. I'm wondering if it will come out too soft, should I maybe add salt to harden it up a bit?
