I would like to know that, too.

No lard or palm standard recipe?

I used to have lard listed as the first ingredient. It was more noticeable that way, of course. I like to add goats' milk, too, so I rarely do completely vegan. I like lard perfectly fine myself. Thanks for the input and recipe Candybee! Definitely agree about letting high-olive oil soaps...

No lard or palm standard recipe?

Thank you for the recipe and ideas about what to do with these ingredients! I never tried salt in soap except a failed salt bar. Sounds good! I'm going to ease back into it with a unscented soap. I have scents that set up kinda fast and I think I'll wait til I'm back in the saddle for...

No lard or palm standard recipe?

HelloI like lard but there's a stigma against it for some reason, even with people who aren't vegetarian. Then I don't like palm either because of the environmental problems with it. Ecological kind is so expensive, too. Here's what I do have on hand: coconut oil castor oil shea...

    Need color ideas

I better plan this right. If you do clay in one portion, you must stick blend it very strongly before adding the lye water. There may be a little acceleration with this scent but maybe not in just 1 # of oils. Badger I think it's one of the best scents I've ever ordered. Smells so rich and...

    Need color ideas

I have candle science's Oakmoss and Amber. I wonder if red clay or Rhassoul clay (soft tan color) would work. I think it does discolor kind of gold, though and I was planning to add a little goats' milk.

    Your Curing Area

I use open cardboard boxes and shove 'em under the bed. But I don't have that many. I take them out and see how the color and the scent is doing and rotate them. I want a shelf something like yours.

    Lovespell FO

Are you having to use 1.5 oz per pound though?

Temptation calls (sale at Peak's now)

It came in an email saying 15% off fragrances. I think you might have to be registered at Peak's to get the notices or on a mailing list or both.

    Lovespell FO

1.5 oz per pd seems like a lot of scent. I think I'd just let it be on the light side or choose a stronger Love Spell. But I guess it's not a real strong scent generally.

Temptation calls (sale at Peak's now)

The only drawback is the ground shipping is a little high for a small order.

    Using Clay in Soaps

melstan, from my ltd experience 2 teaspoons per pd for very fine and smooth clay like white and rose kaolin. If its a rougher clay like the Rhassoul I bought I'm only going with 1 teaspoon per pd and I sift it well beforehand.

    Here are some of mine

Just when I was dazzled by the first 3 there was more! Really nice, all of them, Timber.

Temptation calls (sale at Peak's now)

Just got the email a little earlier. Sometimes it's not even the money, it's the time. Wish I didn't have to sleep!

    Time to take a POLL!

4 on the side of the bathtub, 4 on the sink. One is just awful. I'm only using it only because it had rice bran oil in it and I wanted to see how much I liked it. But the scent is terrible from the morph. I might as well throw it away. Sometimes that's the best outcome for a soap. Just...

    Lard & Fragrance

I like grams and I've been starting to do more recipes that way lately. One batch I have some trepidation about is Heather fragrance oil. Might not seize so quickly in a small batch. At least I hope!
