What are you reading right now?

I'm currently reading the Song of Ice and Fire series and am 60% of the way through Storm of Swords (book three in the series).

The only one I know of

The Captain Morgan one makes me giggle due to the location of the clock hands.

First time using a wooden mold.

... I watched the video, and life just makes sense now.

First time using a wooden mold.

I've been making soap for about a year now, and it was an awesome feeling pulling a ginormous log of soap out of a mold, especially since I've been so used to pulling bars out of a mold where they're already all formed. It was quite exciting to experience the excitement of something new again...

First time using a wooden mold.

Oooh, those fondant mats are really nifty, and I bet it makes the edges of the soap look really neat.

What inspired you to start soap making?

Having sensitive skin and a strong sense of self-sufficiency, haha.

First time using a wooden mold.

I got a table saw for my birthday (everyone who I've told keeps saying, "that's a strange present for a 21-year old girl" ) and made myself a custom wooden mold. I used it for the first time last night, and that was also the first time I had used a wooden mold PERIOD. I can already see...

What Do You Think Of Wellington Fragrance

They're not as bad as people have claimed in reviews I've found, but perhaps they've just changed over the years. Their customer service has always been good to me (they scent the wrong fragrance oil in one order and scent the correct one free of charge). Most of their scents perform fairly...

    Wellington Fragrance order

Let me know how the Aloe and Green Tea fragrance is. I've been eyeballing green tea scents of all ilk and would like to know how this one is.

How long to cure olive oil soap

From what I've gathered, it's mainly just the slime. Olive oil is a soft oil by itself, but cures over time to be a nice hard bar. It just takes longer than a soap with a mix of harder oils.

    number of oils?

I have had superb luck with simply three oils: olive, coconut, and castor. It's my base recipe. I've only been soaping for a year, so it's all I've used so far. Once I've finished my soaping for selling, I'm planning on doing some experimenting with different oils for different kinds of soaps...

How long to cure olive oil soap

I don't know for sure as I've never made 100% OO soap myself, but I know for sure that I've seen people throw around such things as "a good long cure" and "six months." Hopefully somebody can confirm for me.

    acne soap recipe

She didn't say it was a superfatting oil, she just said that she would add it to her superfatting oil.

Made my first 6 pound batch!

I probably could've, but didn't think of it at the time. Darn it! Oh well. *smells all of the lovely new lavender soap curing on the shelf*

Made my first 6 pound batch!

I don't know 100% for sure, but I didn't want to be selling anything with even a little DOS, so I scrapped it. This batch should turn out fine, as it didn't start sweating and overheating (which I think was the issue with the batch that I lost). At the time I had been baffled because it had...

Made my first 6 pound batch!

I'm used to making my soap in three pound batches, but I lost a batch of lavender (the most popular of my soaps) to DOS when some oil evaporated/condensed out, never reabsorbed, then developed... well, those dreaded orange spots. I have two identical molds, so I decided to bite the bullet and...

What size batch do you normally make???

Always three pounds. I don't have any other sized molds yet. Depending on how much scrap I have left over from my wood sculpture project, I might make myself my first wooden mold.

Moving to the States... Where do you get your supplies?

I am so glad that I've found this thread because I think I may just have to start buying my coconut oil from Soaper's Choice from now on.

    Energized after soaping?

I don't think you're crazy at all. I always get so very excited and energized after finishing a batch of soap. Perhaps it's that sense of accomplishment that energizes us so much?
