HP Pine Tar added at the end?

Question—I was talking the other day with an elderly lady who says she never used to account for the lye in pine tar soap because she added the pine tar at the end of the cook. So I looked it up and can only find this. For those who have made pine tar soap (I have not), does this seem safe to...

    Great price on oils

Not sure if anyone would be interested, but I use a restaurant supplier for oils and some fats/butters. shipping is high, so I wait until I have a big order. After doing the math it works out to be cheaper than Amazon. Today they had a gallon of soybean/OO mix for $12.99 and 12lbs of CO for $33...

    Let’s Talk Soap Dough

Ok, so I’ve searched the forum but haven’t found the answers I’m looking for. 1. Does soap dough stay pliable if wrapped in Saran Wrap, say if you wanted to make a large batch to use later, or do you have to make it batch by batch? 2. Does anyone have videos or websites they can direct me to...

    Halp! Cancer Patient Skin Cream

I have a friend with breast cancer who is having some issues with irritation on her skin. I know there are a lot of these recipes posted online—which is overwhelming. I HATE making lotions, so I don’t want to waste a bunch of time trying a few out. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe for...

    Powdered Fragrance..?

Just curious, but has anyone tried something like this? A friend sent it to me and I’ve never even heard of a powdered form of fragrance. Wonder if it would stick better or longer? Has anyone used such a thing? It says it’s developed for CP soaps as well as lotions, etc...

    Is this false trace?

Just trying to learn here, but are those lumpy bits of fat a sign of false trace? Not sure I want to stick blend again as I am needing a fluid batter. Going to try stirring until my arms fall off

    Slow Moving Recipe?

Would anyone care to share a tried and true very slow-moving recipe with me? I made one purely by accident a few months ago, and for the life of me I cannot find my notes anywhere. This recipe won’t have a FO oil, so no worries there.

    Happy Accident

Happy little accident. The bottom white layers instantly seized, but instead of panicking, I didn’t add FO to my top layer and was able to do a swirl. I liked the interior so much I cut them into cubes instead of the typical size as I think that helps to accentuate the unusual appearance.

    Technique Ideas for Mold

So, I inherited a mold like this one with the dividers going across the short side. I’d like to try it out, but have no idea which technique to use. Any suggestions?

    Need help on the cut

So, here is my first attempt at a Taiwan swirl. This is the top and bottom portion. Now before I destroy it completely, I cut this long-ways (horizontally) first and then into bars (vertically), correct? The swirls aren’t that great as my homemade dividers were trying really hard to collapse...

    Soap cut?

I have been scouring the forums for daaaayss and you all are the biggest inspiration to me. Inspirational enough that I am venturing into new things. Soooo… after seeing some laminar flow posts and watching videos, I tried my own. LOL… it’s not exactly what I imagined. QUESTION—is this a...

    Soap cutter

Hi all! I have been looking at getting a good “push-thru” cutter here in the near future. Unfortunately, I have a $100 budget. Currently I use just single 3.5lb molds, and have the R.E.D cutter from essential depot—which I love. But, I am hoping to branch off into slab molds here soon & I...

    Oh Lordy, I need help

Since I’m new, I feel like I should start off with I do know how to make soap. My son had eczema when he was little, so my only option was to make his soap—he’d break out using anything else. But they weren’t fancy soaps, by any means. Purely utilitarian. But a couple years ago, I met the most...

    Hello from upstate South Carolina

Hi all! New to this forum but have been making soap since 2017. Does anyone know of any meet up groups for soapers? Would love to meet more “crazy soap” ladies in my area. :)
