I find that hard to believe, I bet your soaps are gorgeous with all of your know how! Thanks for your feedback! I love Hot Process, today I’m trying a watermelon style soap. Even though I’m not really a fan of food looking soap or glitter etc. But my grandkids asked for it, so here I go..lol

    HP Swirls-Loving indigo!

I also loved working with madder root powder and spinach. Beautiful results in the hot process soaps. Thank you for the suggestion of changing default to lye concentration it really helped a lot.

This is a very good article. I also played with the recipes to see the different water amounts when changing to concentration. I am understanding better.

Playing, learning, winning and failing with HP!

Thank you, I will do this next time. Should I keep it at 38% or do you suggest 25% concentration too? Wouldn’t that lower water? I have been reading and trying to understand and I know eventually it will all click. So, I just keep asking questions till it does. 😊

Playing, learning, winning and failing with HP!

I do everything warm as well. But I obviously was deducting way too much. Thank you for sharing what works for you. I love the pointers and advice. 😊 Beautiful soaps! I love them. I am a bit confused about percentages water to lye but not the oils. I always keep the top part the same and I...

    Having fun with Hot Process!

I read vinegar helps with fluidity in HP. But I used white wine vinegar which turned my soaps brown. The soaps are performing very well. The rest are curing. I did the yellow bars without vinegar and they were not as fluid. But yes, it increases your super fat and decreases the lye strength. I...

Playing, learning, winning and failing with HP!

I will change the concentration and not subtract from the batch water. I try not to stir it after the trace and let it volcano. Thats when I stir to calm it down. So, if you stir a lot you should go to a 30%? Thank you so much for the feedback. I sure need it there is so much to learn. Boy do I...

Playing, learning, winning and failing with HP!

I’m not discouraged just being truthful. You can’t win them all. I could not wait to start today. I have been making HP soaps and working on fluidity but it’s getting worse. I suspect I am removing too much water to mix with mica’s from the lye water. I left more than the lyes weight in water...

    Having fun with Hot Process!

I think your daughter is on to something. Keeping it simple seems to the best for our sanity alone! Less is more sometimes. The vinegar definitely helped with fluidity. I will buy some apple cider vinegar for next time. Thank you for your kind words.

    Having fun with Hot Process!

I used Trader Joe’s white wine vinegar and it made my lye blood red! I used it still because I was all in at that point. I added Orange clove fragrance from nurture soaps. I used the amount the soap calculator gave me. I made a lemon fragrance bar the next batch with no vinegar in my lye. It...
