    rainwater in soapmaking

Why would rain water be dirty? Surely if you put out a clean container the water collected would have to be one of the purest waters available. I can remember my parents collecting rain water for the car radiator & battery and my mothers new steam iron because of its purity.

    Another Bath Bomb Question

I have only been using oils and butter for my mix and I have tried adding more and more oil with out the mix being ruined but with varied results. I have been using round molds, the type you push together to get a round ball shape. I haven't used clay but have been using Natrasorb, cocoa...

    Another Bath Bomb Question

I am trying to make bath bombs and have trouble getting them out of the mold with out them breaking in half. My question is it better to have a more moist mix or a dryer mix. I have found packing them looser is better that too tight. Are there any other suggestions please.

    Gelling Temps Reached

Does any one know what temperature soap reaches when it is gelling. Perhaps there is a range of temps from a partial gel right through to an overheated soap. If anyone has any idea of these temps I would love to know thanks. I am hoping to find a product that I can use on my wooden molds to...

    Fruit Plups in CP Soaps

Irishlass can I ask what affect the avocado has on your soap, does it make it more gentle etc. Saw some avacado's here the other day 10 for $5.00 so now would be a good time to try some. Do you reduce your SF to allow for the natural oils of the avacado's?

    What is this called?

I can remember my mother using one of those with Sunlight Soap in it for washing up dishes. As the sink is filling you use it to shake the soap around in the hot water and it lathers the water up. I'm not sure if Sunlight Soap is just a NZ name or not but it was a laundry soap here, yellow in...

    How To Make Fruit Soap

Hi Irishlass that sounds a bit like the flower soap that my work colleague brought back from a trip to Vietnam. From what he could gather the soap in this case was carved out from a bar of soap. It was so realistic and multi coloured too, really really clever.

Making bulk lye for multiple batches

This is probably a really dumb question, but Irishlass when you say you make a 50% lye sloution what do you mean exactly. Maths and numbers have never been my strong point so a really detailed explaination would help me no end. I really like the idea of being able to just pour out what is...

    Cocoa Butter - bubble bombs

I am experiementing with making bubble bath bombs and read some where that when making bath bombs to add a bit of Cocoa Butter for hardness and to stop them dissolving too quickly. I am wondering if I did this with Bubble Bombs would the Cocoa Butter affect the "bubbling" effect at all. Thank...

    Arrowroot over Cornstarch

Not sure if this is any help or not but I know when cooking the difference between cornstarch and arrowroot is that cornstarch will go cloudy and arrowroot won't.
