    Cardboard box for soap mold?

Can I use a cardboard container as a soap mold? I have an empty sandwhich baggie box that looks like it would be the PERFECT size and shape for a mini loaf mold. Will this work, or is cardboard a really bad idea?

Does anyone know, is there a way to "polish" the soap so that it's not such a lumpy surface?

    My FIRST soaps!!!

Ahhh! They turned out okay I guess... I don't have a decent mold, so I just used some tupperware, and had to do a lot of "trimming" to make them look like bars, lol. What do you think?

    Hello! My name is Terra!

I am going to stick with M&P for now, working with lye fumes is not something I want to risk right now, even though CP is what I REALLY want to try doing :(. But, I think M&P soaps can be a good way for me to get my feet wet and play around with scents and all that fun stuff. I thought there...

I think I might make my way to a soap...

New to making soaps, and confused!

Thanks! I'm really sad that I can't do CP soaps :( I just think they look so much cooler, and the possibilities seem endless with them. BUT, never having done it before I really don't know just how toxic the lye is, and since we live in an apartment for the moment, I just don't want to risk...

New to making soaps, and confused!

Okay, new question... I bought a 2lb. block of white no sweat base, and dried rose petals. Do Rose petals tend to bleed or change the color of the soap at all, and do they add there own scent to the soap? I am lost at what I should get as far as a colorant too, I don't want any un-natural...

    Another silly question, lol

Again, I apologize for my cluelessness. If I'm going to buy a standard size loaf pan that is 9 1/4 inches long, 2 3/4" deep, 3 1/4" at widest point, and holds 40 liquid ounces.... how many pounds of glycerin soap base do I need to buy to fill that up?
