    Lambs fat

sheep tallow I am just soaping about 3 kg of sheep tallow. It depends on how much you use. One recipe I make with 50% sheep tallow, does smell a little. Its not really a sheepsmell but its not neutral, I use chocolade, vanilla or other warm FOs to cover it. Works fine. Today I used...

    Using spices in soap?

Recipe http://millersoap.com/soapanimal.html#MissNonya There is a recipe using spices. I have used this spice mix and it was really nice and had a warm smell, without using any other scents. Be careful some spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, they may cause allergy.

    curing soap with a dehumidifier?

It is a difference between dried and cured. If you make CP soap it takes about 4 weeks till the ph gets down to 8-9. It starts with 14 and every week it goes down one or two points. Debending on temperature, gelling etc. it might be less than that. In case of HP it sure would help...

using fo's to scent lamp oil

Our dog "organizes" blanchets from the couch! He loves soft beds and needs a cover, as soon as the roomtemperature is below 25° C. It takes quite a time to find all his blanchets suitable for him, untill he finally finds the most comfortable sleeping position. The prince and the Pea!

using fo's to scent lamp oil

off topic ilovedoxies Is this a Wiener dog on your picture? I think most FOs for soap/lotion making should work in candles etc, depending on their flashpoint. I would not test one with a low one :D (blow up)

Do you pasteurize your goats milk before making soap?

No, no problems. Even adding a milk product in the finished hp soap never caused a problem. Pateurizing only kills most bacteria, the milk is not steril. Using NaOH denaturates every substance in the milk, I have not tested it, but I am sure its steril!

Do you pasteurize your goats milk before making soap?

pasteurizing Hi! Not only the head, also the quite letal ph around 14 kills every bacteria (either good or bad) in your milk! :D You can really cut out pasteurizing your milk for soapmaking.

    Got a question from a student I couldn't answer....

Hard water The reason is, that the Calcium and Magnesium in hard water also react with the fatty acids during the saponification. Its soap too, but they have other properties than the soaps we use, made with Sodium (NaOH) or Potassium (KOH) hydroxide. Thats the reason why dead sea salt...

    Rose tea in soap?

rose pedals Even on my whipped soap - no gelphase - the dried rose pedals that touched the soap turned brown. It took same days, but they did. Hot process might work. Adding the infusion befor or after the lye, did never make a difference. My rosepedalteasoap has a nice nonroselike dark...

    anyone make glycerin soap?

transparent soap Transparent soap is "wet" after unmolding and needs to dry for a couple of days. But after that it can be used. After drying it should be wrapped quite air tight, so it can`t dry out to much (it shrinks). Basicly you could use a HOT PROCESS soap immediatly, but it does...

    Rose tea in soap?

Sorry it will turn brown, like most plants do. Even if you put the rose pedals on top of a CP they turn dark as well. You could bet your finished rose soap an your rose pedals.

    HP with GM

GM in HP Soap25, if I add the milk after sap, will that affect how long I can keep the soap No, not that I know :D My oldest HPs are about 2 years old, I add about 150 gr. milk product (yoghurt, creamcheese) or 100 ml milk / 1 kg oils . If I use milkpowder I disolve 4 -5 tsp in about 100...

    HP with GM

Goats milk If you add GM into the soap before saponification, the soap turns light brown and gets a fine warm smell like caramel. This might influence the smell of your Fragrance oil. I use "warm" FOs (Lavender, Pine, Schokolade, Milk etc.) in this case. If you pour it in after sapon. -...
