How do you shred your loofa? I grew them last year, and my results were a bit disappointing, they are pretty small and not very spongy. Shredding them might be a good solution. I'm going to grow them again this year, but started the seeds earlier this time.

SMF March 2022 Challenge - Column Pour Technique

Exactly! That is why I tried using the soap dough or a piece of soap. The object can also float around if it isn’t heavy enough. The whole bottle on end is a great idea too.

SMF March 2022 Challenge - Column Pour Technique

I made two batches at once, tried different recipes and different pour over objects. I chose the one in the entry as it was more consistent and a really lovely texture. The other one: I tried pouring it over a piece of soap dough I shaped into an umbrella. As you can tell, batter thickened...

Which would you choose: slab mold & cutter, or slab with dividers

Agree with slab splitter vs dividers. I have both and I don’t use the dividers. Nice to be able to control the size. I would get a more flexible splitter, even if you use the “stepper” on most splitters, the wires kink be they are hard to reposition. I’ve ended up with one splitter at 3.5”...

What caused the extreme fast gel phase?

We call that volcano-ing. Everything reacted too fast. This can happen from your ingredients being too hot or from added sugars or certain additives like FOs or non- CP stable colorants. More information about the source of the additives and the temperatures would help people try to pinpoint...
