    Hate it when this happens!

I have tried a couple of Strawberry fo's and I am convinced that it's just NOT possible to make strawberry scented cp soap! The first one I used a Strawberry fo from Cierra candles, I used Soap Queens method of adding mashed fresh strawberries into the batch for it to turn out to be a brown mess...

Shaving Soaps for use without specialized equipment?

When I made shaving soap I remember using pretty much the same recipe for shea-butter CP soap that I have, and just added kaolin clay. I know I changed an oil or 2 in the batch. I gave it out to men to try it out as long as they filled out a survey asking if there was enough slip, and...

Going back to Pomace Olive Oil

I cannot find pomace oo in my area at all, and I would really like to try it without buying a huge bottle at soapers choice. I'm lucky if I could find a decent oo at wally world. I found one at sams club (their brand) and not too expensive (about $11.00 for 3 liters) it's golden in color and...

How much is too much for Shea Butter

I make Shea butter soap all the time. I have never used that much shea in my recipes. I usually run it at about 18% and it's plenty moisturizing on the skin. My bars consist of CO 31% OO 31% PO 18% Shea 18% These make nice hard bars. Sometimes I will throw in some castor instead and drop the...

    Titanium Dioxide

Sorry I never used BB's TD. You could try the TD from TKB trading. It was recommended by another site at one point. The TD used in oil works great. Use 1 tsp per 2 Lbs soap just mix it well with about 1-2 tablespoons of oil, and pout into you soap. Makes nice white bars.

Artistic Flare - Soap Swirls and Such

#1 thing It's best to use colors and f/o that you know won't seize your batch. You want to work with very thin or thin batch to do ITP (in the pot) swirl. It's really not hard to do. Trying 1-2 colors first and then gradually increasing colors is a great idea. I myself don't do instructions...

    Shampoo Bar Question

*****DO NOT use V05 in your hair, it is THE WORST thing for it.****** I have been a cosmetologist for 20 years. If you use OTC shampoo the best to use is Suave or TRESeme'. TRESeme' used to be a professional shampoo/conditioner. 2-in-1 shampoos are also not good for the hair, they have A LOT...

    Trimmings ?

Did you use iodized salt or table salt? I seen a video on youtube that you can just use the trimmings and water without adding anything else. I did this myself with some old soap that did not turn out well. I did not add anything other than a little f/o. The soap trimmings I used contained shea...

For those of you who need a free, simple label template.

These are very nice labels. Thanks for sharing. I have been making my cigar bands using Microsoft Publisher. If you have Office 2010 it's part of the program.

What inspired you to start soap making?

I was searching for something on you tube and somehow ended up watching videos on M&P soaping. I stumbled upon this site while looking for something else as well. I'm glad I found it really. I was afraid to try making CP cause of the dangers of the lye. But after reading a lot of postings here...

    Failed batch?? Help!

I have a batch of soap from last year that was a major catastrophe. I kept the bars, and shaved them added water and new F/O and use it as liquid soap. Because of the Shea-butter in the bars it makes a wonderful liquid soap. It took a while for the soap to turn into total liquid (approximately...

    cupcakes

I too have always wanted to make cup cakes. I found a whipped soap on you tube and followed the recipe. It is cp but was very easy. I use M&P for the base of the cup cake, then used the whipped soap recipe below. They turned out as well as I could expect for the 1st time trying. My 16 yr old...

How much Titanium Dioxide to get soap white?

I use 1 teaspoon for 2 lbs. With great whitening. The last time I used was in a GM soap that the milk had gotten scorched, and ended up with light tan bars. Most times I will use the TD as noted above mixed with 2-4 tablespoons of canola oil or soy oil and mix well with a "Frother" that I got...

    Castille Soap and lather

My first cp soap was a castile soap recipe from Millers page. After 6 week cure time I used it, and I did not like it at all. It was very drying on the skin. I read in here to cure for about 6 moths; so I put them up on shelf and in the fall tried another 1/2 bar, and I love it now. It's so...

    Curing options

Knock on wood, I have not had any issues with mine thus far. I have had it for a little over a month, and I have in the top drawer all the bath fizz stuff, which the box is pretty heavy, and the drawers hold up great. I am curing 2 batches of soap in the lower bins.
