Soap making ingredients suppliers in India

Hi there, does anyone know of companies in India that can export their ingredients overseas for a reasonable cost? Vedaoila have excellent products but what they quote to ship them to Australia is way too much and makes it completely unviable. I wanted to purchase 10kg of products, $250AUD...

Worse batch yet. What have I done.

Thanks everyone. I am making the small soaps for either inbeds or gifts for my nephews and nieces. I didn't realise that you should leave smaller soaps in the mould for longer. I'll do this in future. You learn something every day 😊

    A couple of landscapes

Hi, these are batches 15 and 16. I am trying my hand with landscapes. Both these soaps are coconut Oil 25%, palm oil 35% and olive oil 40%. I would usually use 5% castor oil but I ran out and am waiting for my 1 litre bottle to arrive. With the seascape soap, I I used a seizing fragrance and...

Worse batch yet. What have I done.

I got it to a thin trace and used a fragrance I used before. As far as I know, I pretty much did everything I usually do when making soap. I used the recipe attached.

Worse batch yet. What have I done.

Well I've made about 10 batches so far and most have turned out OK. This one however is a disaster. Not only is full of soda ash, but it's completely chalky. I used 10% sunflower oil, 30% Coconut Oil, 30% Olive oil and 30% Palm Oil. Could it be the sunflower oil? I never used it before. I...

Batch No. 11, Swirling in shallow mould

Well I'm up to batch no. 11 now and did a swirl in a shallow mould. I like the way it turned out. The recipe I used is 9% Apricot Kernel Oil, 24% Coconut Oil, 32% Olive oil and 35% Palm oil. I'm also trying to find the perfect recipe. So far I can only test batch nos 1 and 2 after curing...

Deliberately seizing soap for layered design

Well this is the result. OK for a first attempt. I made the moon earlier using a couple of toilet rolls cut and made smaller. Seizing the layers one by one and working quickly helped me to shape it, especially the black layer which I shaped like a mountain. I think I'll practice a bit more.

Deliberately seizing soap for layered design

I had an idea and was wondering if anyone does this. I'm thinking of trying a simple layered sunset design, similar to the attached photo. I was thinking of separating the traced soap into 4, colouring them, and one by one, adding the fragrance which I know will seize the soap and quickly...

    My soap seized again

Well I just did an experiment. I made 300ml soap, divided and coloured them. In the peach one I put the same FO that I used before and in the yellow one I put essential oil that I've used before and never had problems with. I think the photo speaks for itself.

    My soap seized again

I would like to try making transparent soap which needs the hot process. I would however like to be confident with the cold process soap, but I have alot to learn.

    My soap seized again

I've not made hot process soap before. Maybe I should give it a try. When it seized I did a quick google search and was advised to add water to thin it out which I did. I divided it in 5 and coloured it and plopped it into molds. I'm sure the soap will be usable, but I guess I'll have to wait...

    My soap seized again

Well I made a large batch today, 1000ml. I used the attached ingredients and all went well until I added the fragrance oil which was supposed to be formulated for soap, photos attached. As soon as I did that my soap seized. I am totally peeved off. I ordered 500ml of this oil, and had it...

Batch no. 7, sticky and soft

Well I've been going gung ho, trying different recipes until I find the perfect one. I made this batch 2 days ago and there are a few problems. I just took it out of the mold after 48 hours and it's sticky and soft. The top however is quite chalky. I made some novelty shaped soaps with this...

Using infused Olive oil in soap

I thought I'd use lemon and ginger essential oils as well. We'll see what happens.

Using infused Olive oil in soap

I want to use this infused Olive oil for a batch of soap. Will I calculate it as if I'm just using normal Olive oil?

    Antiseptic soap recipe

Does anyone have a recipe for an antiseptic cold process soap? I've been buying Detol bars, but would prefer to make my own, now that I'm on a role.

    Batch no. 5 - A bit sticky

I have cut it up and it actually turned out OK. I shaved the edges. They will be amongst my Christmas gifts to friends and family.

    Batch no. 5 - A bit sticky

I made my 5th batch 2 days ago. The Shea butter I ordered turned up so I used it in this soap. The recipe was: Coconut Oil - 30%, 180ml Olive Oil - 30%, 180ml Shea Butter - 20%, 120ml Palm oil - 20%, 120ml Water 183ml Lye 86ml I used a sawn down ice cream container for a mold, which I...

    Freeze dried vegetables for colouring

Thanks for the info. I won't be buying them. I actually put pureed carrot in my 2nd batch to colour it and it faded completely.

    Freeze dried vegetables for colouring

Hi just wondering if anyone has used these freeze dried vegetable colourings to colour their soaps? Looks good and natural.
