I haven't tried it, but I've read that clove oil (escental oil) can cause your soap to seize. I suspect you won't have a problem with inflused oil, but I'd take precautions just incase. (Soap at room temp, use full water, don't try fancy swirls, etc.)

I wonder if it's too much olive oil? With salt bars you want mostly coconut oil so that the bubbles won't be overcome by the salt. Also, Olive oil tends to be soft until it's cured a bit. I've only used water in my salt bars, so I can't comment on the GM.

I'm not an expert like agriffin, but to me, the first batch looks like over heating (very common with milk & honey) and the second batch (round) looks like the oats & honey weren't mixed in well enough. I agree with agriffin, try mixing it a bit more next time.

I know you've finished your batch by now, but for future reference, you want to stay away from teflon type coatings. Not good for soap, or your pot.

If you didn't gel, it can still zap after 48 hours. However, if you want us to double check your numbers, you can post them.

I haven't tried Rice Bran or Cottonseed yet. Although I do have a jug of RB oil waiting for me. For your third oil, you might want to look into either Palm or Lard, which work very nicely with Coconut & Olive to produce a well balanced soap.

I think the Goat's Milk plus the Pink Grapefruit did you in. GM is really prone to gel. And maybe the answer, especially if you want those nice tops, is to just let it fully gel. The color might be a little different, but it's not going to reduce the quality of your soap.

Just straight peppermint oil will produce the effect your friend mentioned. I love it and it's my favorite scent in a soap. :D
