    Favourite Superfat?

My super fat is set at 2% for all of my bars except the ones marketed for dry skin, where I'll go to 5%. I find the lower super fat gives a cleaner-rinsing feeling. I also tend to over pour my liquid oils, and I purposely aim for very slightly less lye than the calculator calls for (by about...

    Long SaffireBlue order delays

Yep, the last order I placed at the end of April didn't arrive til the end of may- seems like they really need more shipping staff.

A complex Lemon Verbena that sticks?

My customers are very happy with the New Directions Aromatics lemon verbena, and it holds very well in CP.

Yep, another vote for one main recipe and a few specialty soaps.

    Non-Whipped Body Butter?

I think you're going to find an all-oil body butter feels greasy no matter which oils you use, although using fast-absorbing or dry oils (like jojoba for example) will help. It's pretty near impossible to buy anything that doesn't have high water content in a drugstore to grocery store, so we're...

    Lip Balm Labeling Quandry

It's possible that the lip balm could fall under the small packages exception listed here (see 8.3.7): http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pubs/indust/cosmetics-cosmetiques/index-eng.php#four

    Need help conquering labels

Nobody has mentioned Microsoft Publisher yet- I use it for all of my labels, and I find it very user-friendly. It might be worth checking your computer- it comes as part of the basic Microsoft package a lot of the time.

    1 inch soap cutter question

At some point I saw a YouTube video of somebody doing this- Jeffrey Dorian maybe? Whoever it was recommended that you keep the loaf together when you make the half cuts- the bars all press against each other & stay straight up.

    Floral Absolutes

I looked up my recipe- I used 0.1oz ppo rose wax in conjunction with other waxes and eos, and the rose scent still comes through.

    Floral Absolutes

I've been really happy with the results I'm getting from floral waxes in my soap. They're not as cheap as fos, but they're much cheaper than the absolutes, and the scent does hold. And a little goes a long way. Unfortunately I can't remember the percentage I use in my rose soap, but it's very...

tubes for liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoo etc..

I order from sks bottle into Canada. I don't know how much 300 items will cost, but I try to bundle my orders so that shipping is free, and then I clear the items through customs myself to avoid UPS's ridiculously high brokerage fees. If you set up an import account for yourself (which isn't...

For all of you with keen noses...

I rendered lamb fat, and the soap was lovely, but the process was very long and horribly stinky. My family won't stand for any more rendering!

    Cutting salt bars

I use my wire cutter on my salt bars and they cut fine while they're still warm and softish.

For all of you with keen noses...

Try it out on a cotton pad first in drops, so you can tweak it and make it perfect. I haven't had any trouble with benzoin, except for it being very thick and a pain to get out of the bottle. I just run hot water over the bottle for a while for easier pouring. Good luck with the tallow- I've...

    Thickeners in liquid soap

You can also look into xanthan gum, guar gum and agar- I have found that all of these work depending on your ingredients, dilution rate, and many other factors. I haven't found any way know in advance which one will work best- you'll just have to test.
