Finally experienced false trace, and ended up with white spots.

Are these stearic spots? or just pure cocoa butter? I got way too comfortable soaping with lard and liquid oils, I stopped checking my lye water temps... Got sloppy with a 20% cocoa butter recipe, and I finally experienced false trace. Started getting clumpy right as I poured, never got fully...

Found this "plant fat" brick in my supermarket... Palm oil and Canola mix.... but no idea what %

Three ingredients.... Palm oil, Canola (rapeseed) oil, and air... . but they don't have any ratio... but something tells me this would make some good soap. How would you all work with this, in regards to a lye calculator? short of contacting the company and asking them their recipe :P

Cheap, generic micas: accounting for morphing/fading

This is what I got: https://www.amazon.de/MOSUO-Epoxidharz-Seifenfarbe-Schimmern-Farbpulver/dp/B07PM5F98H/ Has anyone had any experience with cheap generic micas like this? Does anyone have any suggestion on the best way I should use this? 1:1 still holds, and hope for the best? :P

    another ROE and DOS thread

Hello Everyone, So my canola/rapeseed experiments went as expected: orange spots in under a month, in everything over 50%. I don't have high hopes, but the verdict is still out on the sub 50%. Either way, I've also concluded that antioxidants/chelators, as many of you have already recommended...

What would you do with this disaster? (100% canola) Still soft and ugly after 48 hours.

So I wanted to test out 100% canola soap out of pure curiousity, and it did turn out terribly. I thought it was safe to unmold after 48 hours. Boy, was I wrong. It's amazing how much differently even just another 5% of a hard oil changes the consistency, unmold, and cut times... I'm letting it...

Can someone help diagnose my soap? I'm confused!

Hello all I have a question about this batch, I hope someone can help me diagnose the problem.. It was mostly soft oils, so I had what I suspect was false trace. I poured it into the mold, it separated, so I poured it back into the pot, stick blended it more, and poured it back into the mold...

    Coconut FAT vs Coconut Oil

So I went to the supermarket to try to plan my own entry to the "supermarket challenge" We all know coconut oil. But I came across this stuff: Coconut FAT. It was about 1/3 the price of the coconut oil. I never heard of this stuff before today. In english, I can find no distinction between the...

    Maxing out Rapeseed oil %

Hello everyone, So I have access to cheap mid-oelic rapeseed oil. I'd really like to try to turn this into some decent soap... I also have access to pretty cheap lard. I have access to coconut oil and castor oil, two ingredients that I bought, in preparation for making a "perfect soap" based...
