Shrink Bags, Heat Sealing and M&P

Thanks for the reply soapbuddy; You have something like this? http://www.uline.ca/BL_2253/Tabletop-Po ... er-Impulse Also, how do customers find the wrapping? I had a hard time opening the soap and ended up dinging/scraping it a bit..

Shrink Bags, Heat Sealing and M&P

Hi everyone, Previously I've always wrapped my soaps in plastic wrap and slapped a label on the back. I went and got some 4X6 shrink bags and decided to give that a go with my heat gun. Because it's a bag, 3 of the 4 sides are all sealed and worked just fine, but how do you seal the open side...

Is Cold Process more profitable than M&P?

I've been in business selling M&P for about a year now, and I've never tried cold process. I know that with CP it's a lot more complex and would need months and months (or even a year) of testing recipes and what not but that's not the issue here. My question is about the cost vs. profit. I feel...

    Just made BATH BOMBS !!!

Just a note that you probably don't want to let them set on paper towel.. they will stick and you'll have bits of paper stuck to the bottoms! I let mine sit on saran wrap so there's no sticky issues. Also I package them in a cello bag with a ribbon/twine. :)

    Etsy

I've ordered FO's on etsy before and been totally happy with them. I go back to "EyeSpider" most. What she does is buy fragrance oil in bulk from a bunch of different reputable companies and then distributes them as sort of a "one stop shop" (vs. paying shipping at say 3 different companies if...

    Mold for MP Soap

Yep! That's exactly where I got the square mold from. I also have the rectangle with the beveled edges and it's great too (and actually more common on most mold sites.. I think it's Mold Market that makes them?) www.moldmarket.com :)

    Cracking Bath Bombs

Thanks everyone for the replies! I feel bad now because I found out what the problem was. I must have been out of my tree that day because I mixed 2 parts Citric acid, 1 part sodium bicarbonate, and 1/2 part arrowroot powder. (Supposed to be 2 parts sodium bicarbonate, to 1 part citric acid!)...

    Bath Bomb Colors?

I use Wilton Gel Icing colorants.. They have a few at walmart, a ton of selection at michael's and also online at coastalscents.com. Some people don't like the speckled texture they leave but I personally like it. They also don't stain the tub or anything, but I use a tiny amount (a little goes...

My clear glyercin soap is cloudy, what to do?

What brand of base are you using? I had clear from BB that was nothing but cloudy, which is so frustrating when your embedding! Could be temperature, if it gets too hot it ends up cloudy, or like mentioned above, some oils make it that way too.

    Arrowroot over Cornstarch

Really? It keeps the scent from fading? How much cornstarch would you put in 1lb of soap?

    Arrowroot over Cornstarch

I use arrowroot powder but only because of what someone posted above about people avoiding corn. Also some people are allergic. As for skin benefits, I don't find a difference!

    Cracking Bath Bombs

HI everyone! I have been making bath bombs for awhile now and never had a problem. I leave them in the mold for 4-5 minutes, scrunch up some saran wrap and put in the bottom of each muffin hole in a muffin tin and gently rest the bomb there to harden (the saran wrap prevents "flat bottom" and...

    Pliable M&P Soap

I added Liquid Glycerin and it allowed me to fold my soap so I know that it helps make it more pliable. It does allow for a bit more sweating though! Fun tutorial from the soap queen, let us know how that works out. I hadn't seen that one before now!

    Bright Soap Colors

Brambleberry just came out with 5 new neon colours, they look awesome! I believe they are powder form though.. They are still featured on bottom of the front page: "Neon Brights" www.brambleberry.com

Hi i'm new here and glad to fine you

Bad - sweating is when little beads of moisture form on the surface of your soap and makes them slippery/slimey.

    scent issues

You shouldn't be using more FO than is recommended or your recipe calls for. The limits are there for a reason. This goes especially for essential oils. Also, I'm not sure the words "I'm very new to this" and "making profits" should fall into the same paragraph. This has come up time and time...
