    Online tallow supplier

Thank you for confirming the info on the OKC chef's choice, I wasn't sure if I just didn't know how to use it! I have been buying my other oils from Sam's club, so I'm not sure if it's worth ordering them and having to pay shipping, but I'll do some maths on it all.

    Online tallow supplier

I'll take another look, but I don't think I do. We are pretty far in the sticks!

    Online tallow supplier

I've not made soap for ages because I'm stumped on the cheapest way to get hold of some tallow! I know a lot of you buy locally, but I'm curious about any online options. Thanks!

Ricing or almost soap on a stick?

I haven't had chance to post my most recent fragrance oil testing results, but I did see a bit of ricing in a high lard recipe with ginger and lime too

What soapy thing have you done today?

I didn't think that's what it was 🤔 all of them were nice and hard, except a couple of corners that looked like just water, not soft or wet batter.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I'm trying to stick to my intention of making a variety of basic soap recipes, and not get too distracted by fancy designs and ingredients! On that note, last night I made Zany's no slime Castile with the added coconut and castor oil, to compare to the 100% olive oil one I made a while ago. I...

Curious about syndet recipe I found + free resource library

Don't worry, I am of the same opinion now! 😆 I used to order 3 or 4 bars once a year, and use them as my only shower product, except for shaving. It worked well when I was a single gal traveling the globe and showering in random marina bathrooms, but I have seen the light since joining this...

Curious about syndet recipe I found + free resource library

Thanks for the ongoing info! I'm considering getting the ingredients for the Mango recipe, as a place to start without trying to understand substitutions. My Lush shampoo bars that I have been using for years are starting to irritate my scalp, so I'm eager to find an alternative. I'm pretty sure...

Grocery Store Soap Challenge Photo Thread

I love your little gift box mold! 😆 I'm more of a stalker than a talker in general when it comes to forums (sounds creepier than I intended), but I've had a lot of fun following this and the original grocery soap thread.

Thank you for the update! I'm curious on the difference between these and the noodles in your other recipe.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made a batch of salt bars tonight! First attempt, so I stuck with 80% CO, 20% olive, and 50% canning salt added at medium trace. It took forever to trace, and I was so nervous because last time that happened, I got false trace. I checked the temp though, and it was still above 95 deg before I...

SMF April 2021 Challenge - Lollipop Swirl

Interesting, thank you! I was using a double boiler because I was afraid of heating the oils too quickly.. I'm prone to walking away and forgetting about them. How come this can cause stearic spots?

What soapy thing have you done today?

This is what I've been doing! It makes so much difference. I still have one gallon zip lock of fat in the freezer from the cows we lost in a storm a couple of months ago. I really need to render it, I've run out. But I used that as an excuse to experiment with lard! 😅

SMF April 2021 Challenge - Lollipop Swirl

😂 Thanks! This was my second one, my first thickened up because I was impatient with the temperatures, so I just did a chopstick swirl of sorts, as I knew I would not be happy with it. I saw the glycerin rivers, I think that is so cool! I pulled out my recipe, and apparently I forgot to take...

SMF April 2021 Challenge - Lollipop Swirl

Thankfully we live on my husband's parents farm, so there is always family around if I really need help! I 'booked' tonight off, I told my husband I will be busy making soap from 6:30 pm 😅 I melt the oils in a bowl over a pot on the stove

SMF April 2021 Challenge - Lollipop Swirl

Thanks @ResolvableOwl! I really wanted to make a second attempt, but I didn't have time (I have an 8 month old, so I only get to soap once every couple of weeks). I'll pull out my recipe and notes and post them. I'd love your thoughts on why my recipe may have given me stearic spots, as I would...

SMF April 2021 Challenge (Lollipop Swirl) Entry Thread

This was my first ever attempt at any kind of swirl, so I kept it really simple. I'm pretty pleased it even kind of worked! I was running low on some of my oils, so I tried out some canola oil for a more fluid batter. 1/2 TSP activated charcoal in half of the batter, and I used a 3 inch pvc...
