    Dissolving vitamins for lotions

Thank you both for your input! Those are very fair considerations and probably the route I'd go - it was more for experimental purposes (see how the product works, test it, and see how customers respond to it if it's passed testing). I guess before I invest in the raw cosmetic ingredients I...

    Dissolving vitamins for lotions

So ordering things like vitamin B5 for skin and hair care formulations can get a bit spendy - I've read that vitamin c and b (all 8 of the vit b) are water soluble. So, I'm curious, if I had a high quality vitamin without fillers and I dissolved it into water and included it as my water phase...

My own "Fragrance" it n CP Soap

I will update this post by stating that I did end up using this infusion as a water substitute instead - using a large container and slowly adding my lye while sitting in my kitchen sink. It did start to volcano a wee bit while making my lye solution but I was able to stir it down. Once it was...

My own "Fragrance" it n CP Soap

I suspected as much. I guess it was just high hopes that the scent would come through but I knew that it was unlikely, I just had to ask to be sure. The intention yes was for the fragrance but I wanted to know if it would perhaps not saponify fully/harden, volcano, seize or become otherwise...

My own "Fragrance" it n CP Soap

So last year I distilled some dry herbs and essential oils in a diy blend of witch hazel and 75% isopropyl alcohol (1/3 cup alcohol, + herbs and EO then topped off with witch hazel). It was my own "thieves blend" that I bottled for bug repellent. Then after bottling some I topped it off with...

Anyone else have their recipe react differently when the weather changes from winter to summer?

I'm also in this area of Oregon - though a little more west (Albany) and my gosh this weather. Fortunately soap making had been ok for me, our house is relatively cool always and I have a dehumidifier going. However, last year right when the wet spring transitioned to summer I had failed batch...

One oil for the rest of your life...

I'm another fan of lard or tallow - honestly either would be fine! I render and filter it myself and my end product is odorless and white as fresh snow 😍

Soft Soap rebatched to salt bars?

I will look into an emergency CPOP, along with letting them sit out another week or two. It wasn't intended to be soap dough, it's too soft for that even - I considered rebatch as my design didn't even turn out as hoped and the colors are not offensive when blended - I just wondered if I could...

Soft Soap rebatched to salt bars?

Ok, so work rebatch with soap shreds firm these up?

Soft Soap rebatched to salt bars?

Just for clarification, it didn't rice - that's just where little pockets of oil seemed to have formed. I noticed it's worst around the white, so I'm leaning towards too much oil from TD oil dispersion.

Soft Soap rebatched to salt bars?

So I tried a new recipe and it just didn't pan out. I don't know if I miscalculated somewhere, my FO was a very well behaved one and I had 62% hard oils and butters, 3% SF (which I don't usually do) - I added coconut milk to my oils (which I've been doing with great success). I don't know, but...

    Butter-only soap?

My husband has a number of things he cannot eat without suffering moderate to severe pain - and most recently a pretty severe infection (diverticulitis). Found out it's a family problem and his grandmother had to have sections of her intestines removed. Has totally required major changes in how...

    Liquid shampoo recipe formulating?

@DeeAnna and @Zany_in_CO thank you both for all of that input! I greatly appreciate it - I will check out your links for more in depth info

    Liquid shampoo recipe formulating?

Thank you so much for all of that input, as I said I have limited soap making experience and am timid with experimentation. I was just thinking about all the things I thought could be good. If I just do a basic LS base, should I also have an acv rinse? Ingredients are kinda expensive and with...

    Liquid shampoo recipe formulating?

I apologise for repeating the same question - I was not finding anything specific to my ingredients I have readily available and just wanted to know if it would be wasteful to experiment or if it could be worth it to try... Thank you for directing me to another thread that provided some answers ☺️

Small bubble issues in CP soap

Of course - I've learned the hard way to read reviews as well as the company's notes. Acceleration without expecting it can be alarming, especially as a noob 😅

    Liquid shampoo recipe formulating?

Hello all, so I've been lurking in the shadows of the message boards for a while but finally have a question that I cannot find answers to 😅 I'm new to soap making, so my theory could be completely wrong - but I had an idea but have no idea if it'll work or ratios to experiment with. Here goes...

    Chia gel in soap

I wonder if it was the flax seeds because I know the oil must be refrigerated and used within a year or less...I would imagine the gel would behave similarly? Maybe you used them towards the end of their lifespan? That's totally guessing - still want to experiment.

Small bubble issues in CP soap

So I just checked the website on the fragrance notes and ideally it should've worked fine. However, out of the 11 reviews, only a couple people used it in cold process soap and one of them complained that the fragrance disappeared on then as well. No one else really had anything useful to say...
