Can ash be prevented?

Do you get soap ash with your coffee soaps? I noticed this batch has a light "dusting" of it on the edges... know how I can prevent more from forming?

This is my first time using Coconut milk in my OMH, I just hope it doesnt turn to brown. I want it to gel without ending up looking like chocolate!!! LMAO

Made another experimental batch today. Oatmeal, coconut milk, honey and vanilla. It smells amazing! I tried to soap as cold as possible, but the coconut milk and honey still managed to caramelize a bit. I hope it doesn't get too brown. I guess if it does, I can just blame it on the vanilla!! lol...

Ok, interesting development.... It's only been about 3 hours since I cut the soap and it is now ALL the outer color. The middle went from creamy peanut butter color to dark brownish red... I love it!!! I'll post pics in a bit!

i think I'll have the butcher grind the suet for me and do the boil method. My dogs will love the left over meaty bits!! When you mix it with veggie oils, do you mix it with only "soft" oils? I've heard tallow traces fast. So if i mix it with olive oil you think that would be ok? Like 50/50?
