What soapy thing have you done today?

Update on the @Zany_in_CO no slime Castile with EDTA and SG. I easily unmolded it at about 8 hrs and covered it for the night. I just finished cutting it about 22 hours after pouring and it cut perfectly. After the conversation about the different chelators yesterday I got a wild hair and made...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thanks @linne1gi ! I have done the math with previous batches and been successful; I think I just felt like there wasn’t enough room for error in regard to lye impurities etc. due to this recipe being 0% SF. I’ll try it with a smaller batch at some point and maybe compare the 2 recipes. Maybe...🤪

What soapy thing have you done today?

I’m new to posting and figuring out how to use this forum, so I’m not even sure how to do that! I went DEEP down the rabbit hole of “Zany’s No Slime Castile “ last night!! 1:30 a.m. and then didn’t sleep because I was planning my soap all night! I’m excited about this recipe! Thank you for...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I had already ordered the EDTA when I discovered it’s not as good for the environment , so I’m going to use it up. We have horribly hard water here so I’m not sure SG alone is enough. I was thinking about using SG and citric acid but didn’t trust myself with the CA and lye math, being that this...

What soapy thing have you done today?

My 1st time making @Zany_in_CO no slime Castile. I added EDTA and Sodium Gluconate to the oils and used black pepper & bergamot FO. Fingers crossed it works with my addition of both chelators with a new recipe!😂🤦🏽‍♀️ I have tried SG and citric acid in a couple other recipes and had good luck...

Hard water and dry skin; recipe trouble shooting

Thanks for the additional input! I’m waiting on my order of EDTA, Sodium Gluconate and lanolin and then I have a recipe planned and waiting that incorporates a lot of these suggestions. I will give your recipe a go also and then I can compare them. I’ll let everyone know how they work out when...

Hard water and dry skin; recipe trouble shooting

Yes, I actually have been following that thread about Kennas article. I think it’s what finally lead me to ask my own questions to the forum! I’m recognizing that those average and typical fatty acid profiles just aren’t working for me and I needed to step out of that box but didn’t know where...

Hard water and dry skin; recipe trouble shooting

OMGosh! Thank you for all of the great tips and advice! DeeAnna, I kept trying to reply to your original post today and couldn't seem to get it in the correct place. I haven't quite figured out how this forum works for posting and replying. lol I guess I have had it in my head that kaolin clay...

Hard water and dry skin; recipe trouble shooting

We live in a high altitude, very dry & extreme dessert climate. It’s dry and hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. (Sub zero and lots of snow). Our water here is also VERY hard and full of iron and calcium. It’s a harsh environment and most people have dry skin. I’ve been really playing...

    Does anybody like unscented soap?

I used 12%. It’s raw, crude cocoa butter from New Directions. I love the smell of it but I’m not sure they carry that particular cocoa butter anymore. I haven’t bought any for quite awhile.

    Does anybody like unscented soap?

I like lightly scented soaps but I also just made an unscented, natural soap that smells lovely. I used a bit of cocoa butter in it and it just gives a slight cocoa smell. I love it! I know this can also be a strong scent for some people so I went light on it. It’ll be interesting to see how...

    Apple Cider Vinegar Soap

Thanks Deeanna. I always enjoy your knowledge and input. I’ve been trying to “fine tune” my recipes and compare results with some of these things. I usually have 4-5 bars at a time in the shower comparing different properties!😂

    Apple Cider Vinegar Soap

My guess is it would be overkill to use both. Using SL allows me to unmold most of my soaps within 6-8 hours. I also use cpop for a lot of my soaps which helps. My curiosity surrounding vinegar is thinking it would add conditioning benefits, but now I’m thinking maybe not. We live in a very dry...
