    Been a while

Haven’t been here in quite some time. Started soaping again recently. Here is most recent batch. Best part about hanger swirls is not knowing what it will look like. This might be one of my favorite batches of all time.

    Been awhile

Hello everyone. Been awhile since I posted. Kind of burned myself out on the whole soapmaking thing. Had at least 100 bars sitting around and then I just lost my passion for it. Took a personal day the other day and decided to make a batch. Took my time and so happy with the results. Hope...

    Valentine’s Day soap

Here is my latest batch. I know I should have made this 6 weeks ago but better late than never. Winter White, Trial By Fire from Nurture, along with Voodoo from Mad Micas. FO is Black Raspberry Vanilla from Nurture. Was looking for a feather swirl but I got impatient and didn’t let my batter...

    Herbalicious FO from Nurture

Has anyone out there used Herbalicious FO from Nurture Soaps.? I ordered two 1oz bottles just to see the color morphing that is talked about in the description and the reviews. Think I will just make a small 1lb batch of white soap colored with Winter White and use this FO and see what kind of...

making shave soap for the first time

Happy New Year to everyone. I am about to make my first shave soap recipe and I will be using a recipe from Jan Berry's book - Simple and Natural Soapmaking. It is the Classic Cedarwood and Coconut Milk Shave Soap. Not really looking for a lengthy debate on what makes a great shave soap or what...

    100% Usage rate

I was using a frgarance named Afternoon Delight from purefraganceoils.com and the IFRA usage rate was 100%. I am used to using Nurture Soap FO's which are always 6% or about that. What do people do when the usage rate is 100%. I used 10% of my 480g of oil so I used 48g.

    Winter Wonderland - Nurture Soaps

Just a heads up for people about to soap with Winter Wonderland from Nurture. All reviews say no acceleration but that was not the case for me yesterday. I used a slow moving recipe with Lard and Palm that I have used numerous times. I am assuming it was because I soaped too hot for this...

Triple butter versus Lard Palm No Butters

I have been testing a no Palm and no Lard recipe that uses Mango, Shea and Cocoa Butters. This triple butte recipe gives me such a different feeling bar then the recipe I use that has Palm and Lard and no butters at all. Both have some RBO and Coconut Oil. The triple butter recipe gives me a...

    Glass beaker suggestions

I am going to try my hand at lotion bars and body butters. Can someone suggest what type of glass beakers or pyrex stuff to buy. So many to choose from with such varying price points. This will just be an occasional thing so not looking to create a whole laboratory, just want to grab a few...

    Love this mold

If anyone is looking for a cool little mold to make small gift soaps for Christmas you should pick up this mold from WSP. If you order it now you might actually get it before Christmas. Great detail. Soap comes out of the mold really easily...

Wish me luck - first stab at Body Butter

I bought like 7lbs of Cocoa Butter from Baraka and still have so much of it laying around that I think I am going to take a stab at making a body butter. Going to make this recipe because it seems simple enough and does not have a ton of ingredients. I purchased the other ingredients from...

    Happy Soapiversary to Me!!

Today marks exactly 1 year since I made my first batch of soap. It was from Jan Berry's book Simple Natural Soapmaking. It was the Bastille recipe. 75% Olive Oil - 16% Shea Butter and 9% Castor Oil. I added Lemon Peel Powder and an EO mix of Lavender and Litsea. Nice and simple and it came out...

    Average life of a bar

Obviously this has been discussed before but it’s tough to search for such a broad subject. Since I am a hobbyist and don’t sell, I really haven’t been too concerned with longevity but out of curiosity I was wondering what people think is an average life span of a bar. The last bar I gave my...

    Hulk like soap!

Latest batch. The purple and green together made me think of the Hulk. Micas are King Tut from Mad Micas for that goldish accent and purple is Purple Vibrance from Nurture and Green is Force of Nature from Nurture. FO is Black Pepper Bergamot from New York Scents. FO behaved with no issues.

Sharing soap at work - your thoughts

What is everyone's opinion on sharing cold process soap as hand soap in the workplace? I brought a bar of my soap to work along with a soap dish because I have so much laying around at home. I only share the bathroom with maybe 5-7 other guys at work. It's a cubicle type office atmosphere. I am...
