First Salt Soap on a Stick

I need to get a grip with the soap calculators. I had a fiddle yesterday but was so confused by it all.

First Salt Soap on a Stick

Ok. So my EO will accelerate trace and it was a lot of salt. I do love the smell so want to give it another go, this time much more educated. I’ll give it another bash with the oils suggested above and less salt, way less salt. 😂😂😂

First Salt Soap on a Stick

Nooooooooo.... Not the geranium!!!!!! Please not that! I’ll have to pop it in a bath bomb or two then. 😂 Thank you both for answering. I’ll look at the kokum butter and the scent and try again. (Although I think hubby’s patience is already wearing thin with the soap which appears to be...

First Salt Soap on a Stick

I made my first ever salt soap yesterday. Erm, yeah, well, I suppose they’ll make great homemade Christmas gifts even if they aren’t exactly pretty... As soon as I added my salt it stiffened so much I could barely spoon it into the moulds. The recipe I used was from the Brambleberry Milk Soap...

    Milk Candles

Nothing. They smell of nothing. I lit it the the other day, burned it for a couple of hours. Blew it out, left the house for a bit, came back hoping to smell something but could smell nothing. However, made some soap with geranium eo today and holy smokes.... found my favourite smell ever. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

    Milk Candles

LOL - That was my first thought but there is a woman a few miles from me making and selling them - I've got two on order. Granted hers are scented. I should get on and order the one from Scotland too - Those are not scented so it'll be interesting to see.

    First Milk Soap - Pimples?

Well, I reduced the temperature of the oils to 85 from 95 and was careful about not over stick blending but still managed to get hte circle through the centre - Oh, and I forgot to add the sodium lactate - Amazing what a difference that made to softness of soap when birthing it from it's mould...

    Milk Candles

Now that my second batch of soap is curing nicely in the curing room - AKA The spare room. I'm obviously so skilled I want to turn my hand to something else new... Milk Candles. There are a few dotted around and I have been in contact to a couple of the makers to ask about shelf life. 1 of...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I did ask for a soap journal for my birthday last night - Hubby said no because I already have so many notebooks/journals/diaries already - I'm an addict. LOL.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made my second batch today - Very dull compared to the creations shown here - Snowman Poop!!! 😂🤣😂😅😎😎😎😅😂🤣 I forgot to add the sodium lactate so it’ll be interesting to see how much softer it is and I wanted to add fragrance. Didn’t check how much I’d need and had about a quarter of the amount...

    First Milk Soap - Pimples?

And I really do appreciate all the options!!!! There's no reason we couldn't dehydrate our own cows milk one day.

    First Milk Soap - Pimples?

Thank you so much for your offer of help. I followed a recipe from The Nerdy Farm Wife Website. 9 oz Milk 4.3 oz Lye 1.5 tsp sodium lactate 22 oz Olive Oil (71%) 8 oz Coconut Oil (26% 1 oz Castor Oil (3%) I froze the milk first. I mixed my oils together in the metal bowl but hadn't done a...

    Big Hello from Somerset, UK

LOL - I just went upstairs to have another sniff. The batch I made this weekend I've called 'naked' - I didn't add anything to it so I could see what it looks/smells/behaves like. It's got a kinda oily sweet scent (not sure that that makes any sense even to me but it is the closest I can think...

    First Milk Soap - Pimples?

A quick question if I may please. My first batch of soap is happily curing upstairs in the spare bedroom. It's a milk soap made out of cows milk - I'm making cows milk because my husband is a dairy farmer and we live on a dairy farm so really interested in seeing what can be done with milk...
