Look what I woke up to!

Oh dear! I suppose it was probably inevitable 😭😭. Maybe it will work this time! Thanks, all

Look what I woke up to!

Thanks, Gecko. It wasn't a totally random batch but I should have waited for supplies before scaling up instead of trying to squeak one out! Yeah, I think my stick blender just had enough. It was old and cheap 🤷🏻‍♀️. I'm glad there's some hope for it before I have to rebatch. I tried that...

Look what I woke up to!

So here's my recipe, which is not one I've used before. Fragrances were (as requested) 3g of tea tree and 3g of eucalyptus for 1000g. I've never done a batch this large before either, and it killed my stick blender halfway through. I split and coloured it anyway and waited for it to thicken up a...

    Tussah silk alternative?

That's what I've learned on here, but I've only been making soap since September!

    Tussah silk alternative?

You know, I still haven't either! My OH still hasn't bought any corn on the cob home, despite me regularly putting it on the WhatsApp shopping list. But I now use canola and have tried aloe vera juice and sugar.

What soapy thing have you done today?

You probably need to soak them for 24hrs first

What soapy thing have you done today?

I received my logo! Very excited as it's really cute. My stepdad drew it for me since he can draw a hundred times better than I can.

Fun with Soap - Experiment in Laundry Soap

Earlene, what sort of proportions do you use? Atm I use soda crystals to dilute commercial washing powder & use vinegar for softener, but I've got a grated bastille I haven't got round to using as confetti, plus a bit of borax knocking around.

    Thanks, all!

Thank you! I will go and have a nose!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I had my first batch overheat today. I was faffing about with trying to get some into little moulds before insulating the main mould when I heard it fizzing! I might have to call it 'the surface of Io' 🙈

    First attempt at replacing water

Oh, that's a shame. Thank you.

    First attempt at replacing water

Can I do citric acid and vinegar together? 🧐

    First attempt at replacing water

Thank you! Palm is out for me too I'm afraid. But soy wax and vinegar are brilliant, thank you. I've started adding citric acid too, since I live on chalk. And yes, high oleic when I can. I'll remember that!

    First attempt at replacing water

Thank you, Dixiedragon, that helps a lot! Straight after I made it I started making notes on the max proportions you experts like to mention here and there! I'm aiming for vegan soap but we're on a tight budget 🙈 so I haven't had a chance to play with any butters yet 😭. I'm slowly formulating...

    First attempt at replacing water

I tried replacing all the water with aloe vera liquid. It seems nice, and passed the zap test, but I think I should ask exactly what the white bits are in case they're something really dodgy. It went so brown I wasn't expecting such a pale, creamy coloured soap, and I definitely wasn't expecting...

Olive and Almond "Like Castile" Soap

Just wanted to say that I made this as my first soap and it's lovely after only 4 weeks. Clearly I'm no judge but I like it and wanted to say thank you to Runnerchicki for putting it out there.

    Pomelo soap

Thank you for the information. It was my first real experiment because I love the stuff and hadn't seen it anywhere else. It's only for myself and my equally pomelo obsessed mum and sister. I'd read on here about lemon zest & just had to do it.

    Pomelo soap

So, having read on here that lemon zest makes a nice yellow, my fifth batch of soap had to contain my favourite fruit. If anyone wants to know, yellow and green zest goes in, orange speckles come out. Looks a bit like the wensleydale cheese with apricots in! I'm hoping it will smell of it...

Anyone know a really good lemon EO or FO?

Would pomelo have the same effect? Or does that fade?
