    My first DOS

So, with my 24th batch (or so), I decided to experiment with a non-super high coconut oil mix with a 9% SF, and my beautiful white bars are starting to show faint little orange circles after about a month of curing. Oh well, lesson learned and I'm sticking to my usual 5-6% from now on!

Aloe Powder seemed to make my soap super sticky....?

I made a triple batch a few days ago using the same base formula (lye in aloe juice, almond oil, CO, castor) with each soap having a slightly different set of additives (clay, poppy seeds, EO). The first two unmolded fine after 24 hours, but the third, which had 1.5 tsp of aloe powder added...

    Any coconut milk tips?

I plan on making a soap with coconut milk, once I get some additive-free coconut milk (made some coconut curry tonight, so it's on my mind)... Any tips? Looks like I'll need to go with an overall higher lye percentage than I typically do (40-45) and I'm thinking I'll add my milk just before...

Almond oil & Rose petal soap

Rose petal and activated charcoal soap with 73% organic sweet almond oil. This soap turned out really nice in terms of lather and skin feel. I wanted to try some high AO soaps after reading some online posts regarding 100% almond oil soaps that turned out well. I also wanted to see if the rose...

    100% Babassu vs Coconut

I tried my 100% organic, refined babassu bar today for the first time (20% SF with some lemongrass EO) and directly compared it to my 100% Coconut (aslo 20% SF) - they're quite similar, as you might expect, though not quite the same. To me the babassu is a bit foamier whereas the coconut is...

    CPOP How long to OP?

I believe I've read an hour is more than enough time, but I was just wondering what you all typically do. I've been OP my CP soap at 170 F (the lowest my oven will go) for a half dozen batches or so now and typically just leave it in there for an indeterminate amount of time - and once had it...

    So many weeks to cure...

I know I've read many a post about this, but there doesn't seem to be a real consensus. Can anyone tell me what exactly happens during the curing process that results in improved lather? I've made several soaps at high lye concentration (40-48%), but it still seems like I need at least 4 weeks...

    Hello Soapers!

Been getting serious about making soap over the last few months and much of my Googling has lead me to great discussions on this forum, so I figured I should join so I could join in. I've made about 30 different soaps so far. All vegan and palm/fragrance/dye -free and have quite a few nice...
