    Will be absent

My Dad is very sick and not expected to live, so I'm heading back to New Zealand on Saturday for a week or two. My kids will join me when the time is right ... or wrong. I look forward to catching up with you all when I return!

    Castille Soap

I've been researching how to make castille soap ... but I still have questions. I thought making castille was about adding lye to olive oil ... stick blend until trace ... put in moulds ... unmould when ready ... leave to cure ... which will take longer due to this being a soft oil soap. But...

    Blackberry Sage

A fabulous smell ... and I'm happy with the colours.

    Cool Water

Made this a few weeks ago and I love the smell ... my hubby used to wear it, so it reminds me of him. I think the colour looks brighter in the 'real world' ... and I'm happy with it!

    Curly embeds

I love the look of the 'curly' pieces of soap that some folk use as embeds in their soap and as decorations in the top of their soaps. Would someone please explain how these curly embeds are made? Thanks!

    Coffee Soap - Australian FO?

I've been asked to make soap that smells of coffee. Do any Aussie soapers use coffee FO's? Where do you buy it and any words of wisdom to make great coffee soap? Thanks heaps!

    Nag Champa

I love the FO Nag Champa! I'm not using as much black colouring in my nag champa soap due to the lather having been too black ... although this didn't do any damage as it all washed away with the lather, I think a few people found it of concern. I'm now using black lustre mica and only...

A couple question for Aussie soapers

A couple of questions I need some help with ... ta! I'm getting a wooden log mould for Mother's Day. I've read that I'll need to line it with 'freezer paper' ... what is that in Australia? Any other advice, as I've only used silcon moulds. I usually buy mechanix lye at the supermarket...

    Aussie Soap

I've been experimenting with using lemon myrtle EO ... and I'm quite happy with this batch. I found making the green balls time consuming ... but I think the look is worth it!

    Orange Poppy Seed with Mica

Finally took some photos of one of my latest orange poppy seed soaps. I used to use tumeric for a great peachy colour, but for the last four logs I've coloured with mica ... and I'm liking it! Sadly these photos don't show the depth of colour!

    Lemon Tea Soap

I had a plan ... and I didn't get close to it ... but the smell of the lemon and tea tree is divine! I had planned to make flower patterns on top of the bars of plain soap, but the plain soap became thick much quicker than I expected. The soap I mixed with mica at thin trace, kinda...

    Polish and/or wash soap

I read on this forum that some people polish and/or wash their soap before giving away or selling. Would you please share what you do and why? I'm just curious.

    Lavender Oats

Last weekend I decided to try layers with a line ... like I'd seen others do. Have to be honest and admit the line was supposed to be about half way ... but I'm thrilled with how the cut bars look. Reminds me of a cake with icing ... or something like that. Unmoulded - The bar on the left...

    Nag Champa

I worked the top of these two moulds differently just to see what they'd look like. I'm happy with how they're both looking and the smell is outstanding.

    Words of wisdom, please

It's been six weeks since I made this mix - 500 gm Olive Oil 200 gm Coconut Oil 85 gm Lye 198 gm Water I found this recipe on a blog and didn't put it through a soap calc ... ops, so it's low on both lye and water. Think the lye should have been 100 gm and water 252 gm. This soap...

    Oatbran and poppy seeds

Hi ... this weekend I'm planning to try a soap with both oatbran and poppy seeds in it. A gardening/cleaning type soap ... probably with orange and patchouli eo's. I've been researching when to add the oatbran and the poppy seeds ... and have read a variety of things. I was thinking I'd...

    Isopropyl Alcohol

I've read about this being used to spray on the top of soap when it's in the mould. Today I saw pump bottles of isopropyl alcohol (from small to massive) in Bunnings. It was in the same section as glues and read like it was for cleaning. Is this something cp soapers use?
